I don’t really think Iron Giant is comparable to anyone in smash, I would compare him to big body characters in traditional fighters like Abigail from Street Fighter or Big Band from Skullgirls

I was thinking Harley is very comparable to inkling. The up air, inkling has a paint bomb, can't kill that well.

I like how he snaps at chat for saying they were comparing Velma and Phoenix Wright because they solve crimes, when they are literally two of the most similar characters across different genres of fighting games of all time.

What I love about this game is that, while some characters like Taz and Shaggy have clear distinctions to other characters, the game isn’t afraid to step outside of it’s comfort zone and be unique with it’s roster. Not just in characters but also in moveset and abilities. The fact that there’s actually characters where you can’t really connect the dots between Multiversus and Smash is relieving because it’s never like that in other “Smash Clones” (Nick All-Stars just makes everyone Fox and Falco from Melee). It’s a perfect blend of familiarity for players coming from Smash and uniqueness for players looking for something OTHER than Smash.

As a Garnet main AND a Dedede main, Garnet is Dedede if Dedede were any good. Great tool kit, one of the heavier characters in the game, hits like a mack truck. A character who is mainly built to scrap at arm's length but does so by controlling the space the opponent occupies with her specials. The big difference is that she has half-decent mobility instead of enhanced recovery.

It makes sense Batman can't kill because he doesn't try killing anyone.

The implication that Bowser has bad disadvantage and DeDeDe doesn't is a truly Coney-level take lmao

As a Steven main he feels at least game plan-wise like villager He has very dangerous tools but they all take a bit to set up so he keeps you away until they're set up and then he approaches. He also has moves that make it awkward to approach him while he sets up like the shield, kind of like villager's tree. He has good aerials so he can actually combo and approach, but he'll be beaten my most of the cast if he's too aggressive. He's also very vulnerable while he sets up so if you get in he's fucked

“Batman can’t kill” It all makes sense

It still bothers me that they could have made Finn's moveset even more creative due to everything he does in the show

Garnet is honestly such a fun character if you learn her moveset her set is really deep and really good for 2s as a support /damage sponge

I've played a bit and so far finn seems like the best shitter character, super easy, early and easy to land kill moves, fun moveset etc. although for me harley is the most fun

They must’ve buffed reindog cuz I was getting aggressive with him. Sure I always had a fireball going and tried setting up my lightning but i would down air on peoples faces every chance I got and it netted me some nice kills. I love his air attacks.

This is so interesting! I main Peach and Steven, and even though they don't really play similarly at all, they are both pretty technical characters that are kinda hard to learn. Even though I suppose they both also float and heal, I do think Steven is a bit more like Villager than any other Smash character, with all the setting up he has to do with his abilities.

Jake is like Dababy, they both can turn into a convertible

Bugs has something Steve doesn't: the base movement physics to back up his crazy kit.

Godly Bugsposting. He was my main in the closed alpha and still is. Instantly gravitated towards him as my favorite character I knew on the roster.

Superman hits hard, has air grabs, and intimidates you through sheer brute force alone into making bad decisions before disgracing you. He's Ganondorf, hands down.

Finn's down air is a kill move as well. You can land it with a short hop, and it does pretty nasty knock off of the ground after 100%

The beauty of this game is that some characters dont have comparisons and you can tell hes stretching for alot of these characters I main Garnet and shes literally so good and she has room for buffs and without a passive at the moment she has room to get better I love her =)

I agree that nobody really compares to iron giant, but I feel like incineroar is a bit closer than bowser. Good buttons mainly limited by the characters speed and size

as a superman and previous Ganon main, I feel like both characters can be compared to one another. They both have crazy pressure and can get those insane early kills which makes you fear them.

Honestly? I agree with you on all of these. I was surprised at how well the Steven comparison fits, even though (as mentioned) he's too unique to compare to anyone.

I would qualify Lebron as Wii Fit Trainer with some possibility for sick combos off their ball projectiles, bonus power with certain conditions (holding the ball and deep breathing) and generally being pretty floaty and fast in the air.

I loved Tom and Jerry as soon as I saw that they can combo people with projectiles in-between eachother xD That's something Rosalina and Luma never truly managed to accomplish.

I was thinking of Lucario for Shaggy, the sandwich for the blue fireball, the moves are kinda similar, and more personally i main both and it feels very familiar the first time i played shaggy

Reindog does damage, your teammates usually always finish though. Reindog supports in using projectiles and damage but no finishing attacks.

I have only played for 2 hours and Wonderwoman is my fave, but I'm really warming up to Reindog. That fireball, umbilical cord and the air spin move *mwah* just great

Velma is kinda like Wright because of the speak bubble attack, In capcom fighting games, one of them you could play as Wright and his objection buble was litterly an attack

The only one I can really compare right now is Iron Giant to DK, not in the sense of moves or anything like that (except the grab, they share that trait) but in the sense that they can both hit very hard and be played very well, but they also both get combo'd to the high heavens.

when i think of iron giant, i think of kazuya with how his damage output is massive and his combo potential can go to zero to death very fast

If you become Jake lvl 10 you can jump in car/boat/house mode and it could be kinda op. The stretch attack could also be good if you are good with it, just make sure your enemy is in the air and then use it upward and it also helps you get back on the map.

I was thinking superman is like Kazuya the way he explained it. They both even have lasers.

That Finn summary was on point. I played three of them in a row and two of them ran off after losing the first game.

This is literally the type of how to play blank character video I always try but can't find, the type I want to make. Actually talking about how the character actually plays instead of just listing their moves and the combos. Talking about play style and application over just "here's their side special" I love this so much

A part of Shaggy that I feel is very important to mention: He's Falcon + Limit. His Neutral Special charges him up, and his specials get a one time megabuff. Also, his sandwich is basically Blade Beam Edit: I never really thought about the Bugs/Steve Comparison, but hearing it out loud, it actually lines up pretty well. They're both characters that have so much cheese they can pull off and still manage to overwhelm you. I think Bugs isn't as overpowering in Multiversus as Steve is in Smash (Bugs doesn't really have set up or many projectiles, so his "get-off me" tools don't benefit him as much as Steve. Plus Superman is the most broken character in the game, and Bugs loses to Superman most of the time, at least from what I've seen)

I main Tom and Jerry and in smash I played as Zelda. I would compare them because the switch over felt almost identical to me, as both characters can create great spacing and have strong, long airials that can kill. Super fun character to master.

From my perspective, Finn is like a mesh of Ike, Link, and Shovel knight from rivals.

I would say Tom & Jerry are also kinda like Isabelle or Villager, they have rockets and can fish you.

There’s just something so great about hearing that your main is the best character in the game

I usually play Shaggy, but he's locked so while I get coins to buy him I have been playing Garnet which is pretty fun, I enjoy playing Garnet a lot

19:35 Phoenix Wright is a character in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, and he fights by collecting evidence to get powerful. Velma isn't quite the same, but you can see where the comparison comes from, and she could be inspired by him.

Iron giant feels a little bit more like K Rool than Bowser. Almost the same aerial game but K Rool has neutral air and Iron giant has up-air, the K Rool’s body armor is the closest thing to Iron Giant’s armor mode in smash, and anytime they grab you, you either take 60% or just die.

Shaggy is honestly like if they rolled ryu/ken, bayonetta and falcon into one character

I find the funniest thing about this game is that Batman and Steven Universe, are the two characters who have really noticeably low kill power.. Also Garnet is VERY much like Cloud... You got large hitboxes, heavy hitting, weak recovery which becomes better if you have a resource, a little bit of ranged capability but nothing much to write home about, but if you are getting zoned out by ranged characters you have buffs you can set up if they're giving you time to do so.

Weird how some of the characters are supposed to be support or mages but can kill better than just about everyone else

i mained zero suit a really long time ago (upwards of 4-5 years ago) and just picked up the game and i didnt really know why but i felt like harley was natural to play for me so i understand your take for harley

Hot take but I love that smash players are so dead set on not letting "platform fighter' be a genre that content creators like Coney are pretty much are forced to compare anything and everything to smash when they play a SmAsH CLonE just to get smashers to try something new coney still does a great job explaining the characters in a vacuum

As a Steven main, I'd say he's a lot like Steve (if he was balanced). A decent combo game, slightly disjointed hitboxes, funky aerial movement options and if he lands a hit after he's set up you'll outright die or get looped by his oppressively fast up-special. Not to mention he also options for blocking with his thrown shield like Steve's blocks. Instead of Steve's big smash attacks, Steven has his passive which basically functions as a frame 1 parry for your ally most of the time. Think "perfect shielding" without the execution, but for your ally instead of yourself.

I'm so surprised by multiversus. Hoped it'd be decent, expected it to be horrible. Find out it's actually pretty good right now, which is at least 2 tiers above 'decent' on my ranking list. I'm imrpressed. And, unlike Smash, I can actually play this online without any issue what-so-ever.

Yeah used Marth (not Lucina) in Smash now using WW in Multiversus. She feels similar with some cool new tricks and abilities But essentially similar strategy and technique

I literally had no idea what any of these characters [other than iron giant] did. But seeing Bugs Bunny and seeing the comparison to steve.... I might be a bugs/Iron Giant main.

I think Superman hits a lot of vibes for Ganon if he were good, or rather, what we all want Ganon to be. The Schmixup, the controlling you with fear until you mess up and then capitalizing massively on knowing the option you will take. Dedede merely sets Traps and covers options by relying on his range a lot. Ganon goes *in* on an Option and destroys you for ever having thought you can get away with it. Seeing that high-level clip of Ross just fuck a guy up was oppressive in a way only Ganon really can be Even Coneys description sounds 100% like the quintessential Ganon playstyle. Bonus points for having what looks like PM float. In any case, you can argue Sups to be a whole variety of heavys because they all carry similar energy of saucing you when they get to play their strengths, but from the speed to the flow to the in-your-face nature of his threatening presence, it just *feels* like Ganon even if he doesn't necessarily have similar weaknesses, moves or speed. That's just because Ganon has a ton of weaknesses and they wanted this iteration to be good. In a sense, Ganon can't actually truly play the way he's supposed to because he's hindered by being a bad character.

Taz literally has Wario's up air, the clap in the form of clapping with bread instead of hands

Arya is closer to Ultimate Bayonetta IMO. She's getting crazy ladder combos that depend on good DI reads to kill early. If you get them last the early combo percents, she's having trouble killing and has to fish for her strong horizontal aerial kill move. She's very slippery since she has more I frames than most, and one of her smash attacks evades and punishes, which is kind of like a bat's within punish. Idk, really feels like Bayo to me. Her Upb is basically Witch Twist and ABK combined too.

As for Iron Giant, I would say make it a tie between bowser and Ridley

steven is kinda similar to steve as stevens weapons can be used as platforms Also, if you can straight up camp as steven by double jumping far away off stage up special dodge upwards up air and then dodge upwards again

Idk Iron Giant from what I’ve seen kinda looks like R.OB. if he had armor. Like, big robot with big hit boxes. Some of their moves are pretty similar too.

As a rob main, i think Superman is like rob. He's heavy, has projectiles, punishes you for jumping, can box, oh and he can fly

Ok I'm gonna argue this one I'm a Dedede main and once I saw his size in the game I immediately played him, I would say Bowser is my secondary but I've found him more similar to dedede especially with down B cause that has almost the exact same amount of reaction time to it that it's really easy to react to, the ability to grab your opponent and move them into a bad spot with side B, and slow but powerful attacks both in the air and on the ground. Also he's just funny, especially if you have an emote equipped as your taunts (he does a unique taunt for those)

Ayra might be closer to Greninja in terms of moveset, but pretty much for all the same reasons Coney said for Sheik otherwise. Steven feels like Diddy Kong. All of his aerials are extremely similar, and his neutral-b & platforms are kinda like set-up tools similar to Banana. You could even argue there's some similarities to Steve cause he can set up walls/barriers. Morty kinda reminds of Duck Hunt cause he's a really hard to use setup/projectile based character who doesn't seem that good lol. Bugs is like a fast Villager with Incineroar's forward-air. Gizmo might be Bowser Jr + Megaman. Idk yet lol.

It's not Smash but if you were to combine Reptar and Jenny's move sets from NASB you'd get Iron Giant
