Its funny how they act like "this is the first Pokémon item ever wrapped" is a good thing. Everything they said screamed "we've never seen a case. We have no idea what its supposed to look like. We have no idea what we are doing!"

If I were buying, I would rather pay a premium to have it opened up and authenticated by Leon, King Pokémon, Rev, or TCA tbh. Don’t think it would lose value if it were opened up and authenticated that way if it ended up being real.

I am not an expert in this field but bearing in mind anyone with the means to buy this case in the first place must have some knowledge in the Pokemon field. How did so many people sell this on and even buy this in the first place given all the red flags which are jumping out at you. It's ridiculous, straight up fraud. Furthermore, how did a TC company verify this with their stamp of approval. If they actually did their job and looked into this like you have done they would clearly see how this a scam. How does an old cardboard box even = certified pokemon first edition content inside also? crazy.

I love these informative videos. It's wild that that baseball card company seemingly didn't try to track the box's origins at all? Like, maybe I'm an idiot, but I thought the big fuck-off ID numbers on the box were supposed to convey information.

If it was at an estate sale I'm pretty sure for tax purposes you have to list the items being sold and their estimated values... I doubt this box would've been laying under a table with a bunch of other Pokemon cards not to mention the family didn't open it to make sure it wasn't something important of his they might wanna keep? Nah I don't believe this at all I wanna see an obituary for the dead grandson and a listing for the estate sale itself.

In all honesty this couldn't have happened to a better person, Logan wasn't going to be losing money on this regardless of what was going to happen because the money exchanged for this was all probably out of his BRvid budget and the attention he's got from it along with the views has most likely already made up for it. Imagine if this happened to someone who was actually risking something on it instead? Imagine if it got sold off another 2 or 3 times and then got to someone who actually needed the money from it only to get a big egg in their face. Sometimes good things happen in the weirdest ways. On a separate note, to anyone wondering Logan has already gotten his money back from the direct seller so not only did he make money back from this he also made money on the whole experience as well, the man stays winning and honestly good for him.

I owned 3 original 1st ed boxes years ago. Never owned a case. I've also sold high-end cards previously on ebay. A few comments... we have seen restocking fees on ebay -- some sellers were still allowed to charge it, and other sellers have questioned ebay customer service how that happens. But, it's never a low-volume seller like that one. Also, while I agree that most sellers would prefer to have the cards picked up directly, there was actually a discussion on the community boards about whether that was wise. There was an incident where the person picked up, but without a third-party carrier to make the delivery, there was no proof the item was handed directly to the actual buyer. I think there may be a QR code now that can be scanned at the point of exchange, but I don't know for sure if that is in place and if it works. Just wanted to help with that info.

Tells me that no one did any digging on verifying this box was legit but just purchased because they had the money to do so even if it meant losing. Good work dude!

I met the guy who sold this Pokemon first edition box to the guy who sold it to Logan Paul at the Collect-A-Con in Dallas. He sold a first edition Charizard to SashaT the sports card collector. The guy gave me bad vibes when I met him like something was just not right about him... I really hope Logan figures this all out! Btw I would reach out to SashaT he might be able to help bring more clarity to this seeing as he did business with them as well. Good luck!

Is it 100% fact that bbce did not open the case, see the boxes with their own eyes, then re-wrap the box as Authenticated? Thats what most people, including myself, I believe thought happened. But if they didn’t open it and just wrapped over the “stop” wrap, then yeah that doesn’t say a whole lot.

Those eBay terms and conditions actually do apply. One time I sold a computer and the customer said it was broken and filed a case on me. In the case she said she had gone to a repair shop and had the computer opened and looked at. Even though the computer most likely got damaged during shipping eBay did not give my buyer a refund because the item would be returned in a condition it was not sent in.

I sure hope he didn’t grab the case from silly ol’ collectibles guru 😆 but seriously, I’m not sure this box you’re displaying is the same that Logan bought but as a buyer I would want a personal deal done. It avoids fees, get a hands on deal with what you’re getting and I would immediately open the sealed case to ensure that all is legit inside. Screw the case in my opinion, I can easily replace that. The boxes however, the legitimacy matters more and I would be extremely aware of this entire situation because it involves BIG money. This is a huge transaction and it’s to be treated in a professional manner.

Baseball card exchange is the #1 authenticator of sealed boxes in the sports card world. I'm still with you on it likely being a repack scam, just giving context since you aren't familiar with them

Coffee Zilla would be proud.... love your vids man this has to take a lot of work digging up the seedy underworld of Pokémon...but someone has to do it.... but I thought the opened it and authenticated the box the wrapped it..... so technically not sealed sealed.... but basically like VGA “qualified” where it was sealed but they opted it to authenticate it.....

Has anyone considered that this box could be one of those infamous changed 1st ed packaging -- the ones with the black triangle 🔺️ over-stamp? If this was one of the factories that still had 1st ed artwork on boxes and/or packs, and needed to alter it when changing over to unlimited, they may have labeled the box differently. Of course, the cards, themselves, would not be 1st eds then, but at least those black triangle packs are so rare. Then, there's the unlikely but possible situation that given there were multiple factories, no one knows if the other factory may have labeled their boxes slightly differently. I used to write articles about pokemon back then, and WotC told me there were multiple factories to handle the volume, and that artwork on everything from packs and boxes to the actual cards was not always in sync, and that changes made at one place were not always implemented simultaneously elsewhere. Of course, it could just be unlimited or a total scam, but people didn't believe there were real prototype cards until recently when a former WotC employee confirmed it.

This video is great for any eBay transaction in general. I will tell you, in order to avoid any issues with sellers trying to scam, ALWAYS video record your package openings. It has saved me several times from sellers trying to claim they can't have an item returned or refunded.

Whelp I will concur that my old case tag did fade and that my stop tape does look different then Paul’s tho mines isn’t as old obviously I do see the difference and I would like to look at Paul’s up close to confirm if it is indeed smudged which really would be impossible lol and measure the distance from stop to the signs..god I hope he didn’t just blow 3 mill

Isn't there technology to look into the package? Like Xray, Spectroscopy etc. that could help? It's probably as cheap as everything else surrounding this thing so those could be enough to discover the dirty laundry in there.😂

Not interested at all in Pokemon cards, the market or Logan somehow. But noticed a news item in the Netherlands that stated that Logan purchased a probably faked package for 3.5M dollar and there was a link to your YT-channel. I can say that I should be doing some work, but I love these kind of investigations! Watched it completely with full interested on how you proceed this and what steps you take. It's crazy how anyone actually believes it is real. Keep up the good work! Probably not going to give a sub, as the other content doesnt interest me. At 7:24 it looks like some of the ink on the table got on to the label. Maybe the seller was trying to make it look older than it is? Or was very careless?

The number 1 red flag is the estate sale - it was her grandson’s box? What child has a sealed case of Pokémon cards? Also people say it’s their grandpas or grandmas item they passed. We’re having an estate sale. Not the grandchild lol. But my dad got me into collecting. He kept sealed boxes - I obviously did not. I was the only kid who even put their sports and Pokémon’s cards in sleeves and toploaders and didn’t play with them. I didn’t have the strength to keep a sealed pack much less a sealed box. Although I did recently sell some sealed packs of first edition Japanese yugioh cards - never knew what they were. Couldn’t read Japanese. No point in opening them

Makes zero sense why you wouldn’t go to a reputable auction service and get the full value minus fees…. Plus they’d Authenticate it. I saw leonhart authenticate his booster box by having it opened… why would it lose value if its opened to confirm the contents.

Spot on dude, a theory (not mine) on how they were able to make the box, stickers, and tape look aged the same is lightly mist entire box with water. Then put it in a food dehydrator for a day or something, that's why the plastic wrapping on the actual pokemon boxes was bubbled and color on the Pokemon box faded.

BBCE is very educated and trusted when it comes to vintage boxes and intertwined and in touch with these companies like topps, Pokémon and what is left of fleer (upper deck). Not saying they can’t be wrong but in the cardboard collectible hobby and business they do have one of the most bulletproof reputations.

Don’t understand the point in keeping the case sealed. Pokemon is not like sports cards. In sports, you get a “Case Hit” meaning finding a sealed case is more valuable. Pokemon does not work the same way. There’s no case hits. Case should be opened and each box authenticated.

I lived in Gainesville for a few years and am still somewhat local. Meelypops is a good store with fair prices and the guys are nice but god damn do they come across as some absolute idiots on this. Very childlike.

Im coming back to this video today for a long car ride. Dont they make like fine óptic wires as small as a needle with cameras they could poke the smallest hole and actually get eyes inside, withought breaking any kind of seals for situation like this when theres doubt of the content of a sealed Item? Just a thought.
