Duane Allman's solo in Memory of Elizabeth Reed from the Live at Fillmore East album. It's the second solo (the first Dickey Bett's, which is also fantastic in the deliberate way it builds tension). There's one 20-second-interval in which his guitar virtually talks, and it talks so poignantly one could tear up, followed abruptly by controlled fury. At some point, Rolling Stone ranked Duane second only to Hendrix, and this is Duane at his very best. And he was only 24 years old.
