They left off some great knockouts. Gustafson vs Teixeira, Rakic’s brutal head kick KO of Jimi Manuwa, and Jan stopping Rockhold.

@DaevonTheSavage well by the time he fought dc he was not that strong cause of the wear and tear. Was still hella dangerous and had the fight gone on for about 3 more seconds he would’ve finished dc, he almost made him vomit his insides.
dash4800 Mês atrás
@keyser soze he was not a 205 fighter. He did it a few times but it's pretty heavy for him. He walks around at like 195 while most guys at 205 walk around at like 225. You notice how he was always flabby at 205, he just didnt have the frame to do that full time
keyser soze
keyser soze 3 meses atrás
@Onward 24ever Yeah, I didn't mean Chuck necessarily, I meant the belt in that weight class, I just thought he was the one holding it at the time. Somebody said he was offered a shot at the belt at 205 and turned it down
DaevonTheSavage 3 meses atrás
@keyser soze well a good bit of the LHW division walks around out of camp at HW and the strength disadvantage was shown in the DC fight. It was a business decision to not call for a title shot at 205

Shogun, Rampage, Wanderlei, Liddell, Rashad Evans, Lyoto, Forrest Griffin… what an era for LHW it was, so competitive and full of talent. Until Jon Jones came along and decimated the division.

Prime Anderson was a thing a beauty. Also, Rashad Evans comes out of retirement this Friday at Eagle FC vs Gabriel Checco.(edit: Rashad won by decision) Also, going into his fight with Rashad Evans, Sean Salmon had a record of 9-1. He ended his career with a record of 18-21.

The Evans vs Salmon ko is still one of the scariest in the history of the UFC. For those of us old enough to remember watching it live on Spike TV, the ko occurred, commercial break, post fight interview with Rashad, another commercial break, Joe and Goldie doing the typical Fight Night wrap up, and as the credits were rolling Sean was still starched on the mat surrounded by medical staff. Literally the building was clear of fans and he was still out stiff, yikes.

@David Park exactly. I loved to see Machida in action. My favorite ufc fighter as well. And I was still shoguns fan since pride championships. Shogun had a very close first fight with Machida and deserved a remach title shot. If Machida hadnt lost his belt to Shogun, he would probably lost to JJ. Dont see this feud btw Machida and shogun. Both are great fighters and deserve ALL respect.

Gustafsson’s KO of Glover should be on here but I guess the UFC didn’t want to make their current champ look like a bum
Mad Gavin
Mad Gavin 3 meses atrás
Two words; eye-pokes. I know fans like to ignore it and pretend it never happened because they hate Jon Jones so much, but Gustafsson was known for using eye-pokes in his fights and the fight against Glover Teixeira was no exception. He poked Glover, who didn't recover from it (later admitting he saw three Alexander Gustafson's) which enabled Alex to tee off on him and eventually land the uppercut KO which was admittedly dope but the eye-poke does take away some of the luster from the KO.

There were far more star fighters in the UFC back in the day. Within a few years just in the 205lb division you had Ortiz, Couture, Liddell, Rampage, Forrest, Evans, Machida, Rua and Jones. Plus Anderson Silva on the rare occasion he fought at 205. Plus guys like Wanderlei and Dan Henderson who were great fighters that never held the belt.
MICHAEL DEAN 11 horas atrás
A golden age for the UFC no doubt and what got me interested in MMA. These days not that fussed and slippery slope was when Dana turned it into the McTapout and Rousey show! Even now it's all seems to be about maneuvering McTapout into a big PPV bout that he has neither earned or deserved. He's washed up and it's just all about his smack talk and puffing his chest out in loud suits!

Can't wait for UFC 275 to see my boy prochazka back in the octagon with his overwhelming striking I wonder if teixeira will get him in a submission before jiri has a chance to knock him out.

I have to say, chucks tko of Randy was icon for sure but shouldn't be making any greatest ever ko lists for the division lol. There was nothing outstanding about it other then the context

The rashad knocking out chuck is one of the most brutal knock outs in ufc history imo. It was just picture perfect.

Anderson Silva was something else! His run was one of the most amazing things I’ve seen in the UFC! Especially that push kick k.o. Incredible!

@keyser soze TO be fair, I dont see him defeating JOnes, Jones is insanely strong and has lots of advantages as well

He was fun to watch wasn't he. He could have held belts at 185 and 205 back then. I will never understand why he was never given a title shot at 205.

I love The Ice Man but I’m happy that the UFC’s Official channel didn’t show any bias towards Randy Couture’s KO of Chuck Liddell Even though Randy us permanently banned from even going to a UFC event and Dana hates him Respect

The spinning elbow might have been a fluke but it generates crazy power a guy nearly broke my nose with it playing sports I tried to hold his back and he turned with the entire force of his body and boom

I think Rumble's terrifying uppercut against Teixeira should make the list.

At the 7:39 mark, one of the stranger ones is SILVA vs GRIFFIN in which SILVA drops him with a little right-hand flick jab.
