Pretty scary watching these , and the dudes unloading the container or portable room at 8.48 from a crane onto that small boat in rough weather is just utterly nuts .

Most docking maneuvers fail because of inadequate speed. Plus, you must be pretty insane to want to maneuver a giant vessel into any harbour not designed for that kind of ships without any tugs. You need them when navigating narrow passages. Period

It would be really good if you would let us know where in the world these incidents took place and gave us some context. Great content though.

The thumbnail at the start is of the MV Rena which sank off the coast of New Zealand. It was not a crash or collision, it sank after hitting a reef when the captain tried to take a shortcut.

Port Agent: Need a docking pilot captain? Captain: No, just a sea harbor pilot and tug. I have bow thrusters. Crashes 10 minutes later. 😂😂😂

Wow, shocking! ... and unbelievably halarious! ... I remember many years ago hearing about a Washington State ferry running aground due to the captain having a boozing good old screwing time up on the bridge ... so could not help wonder if ... ?

Yes, I recall that too. Back in the late 80's, early 90's. The crew were all attractive, young women, then.

So what happens to the captains of these ships after? can they ever sail again?

Because I have a marine (mechanical) background I look up various shipping exploits, and I'm sure some of these I have seen before, but I still enjoyed the coverage.

Problem is these cruise ships are too big and seems like these guys who pilot these ships are idiots and need to learn how to pilot a ship. Accidents happen but much of this is ridiculous, especially in daylight with no fog.

I can't even find good enough excuses to justify such SERIOUS accidents!!! I may not be a captain, but no, here we are talking about critical mistakes and bad, bad, bad coordination, lack of focus and bypass of safety rules. Such people are dangerous and should not be allowed to handle such machines.
