There was a time when I had only a couple of hundreds of zebra Finch.. ❤ and there have been times when I fed these tiny birds with my hands when they had only hatched.. as one of the parents either left this world forever 😢 or this tiny baby was found abandoned on the floor, somewhere outside the nest in their cage. In the beginning, when I did not have many of them, I had no choice but hand feed these little babies until they become about 3 weeks old. After that, there would be some other finches in the cage who would be there to feed them, even when they are not their parents.. and it would be amazing.. but later on, when their number in the cage increased, it became very easy for me to arrange foster parents for them because I always had some little babies in some of the nests and I would choose one nest for an abandoned baby that has babies of its age and it would work best. ❤ I never used an incubator.. but if I ever saw a nest that would have some abandoned eggs that would be not just fertile, but would be in the middle of incubation process, I would add them to some other nests that would have eggs of the same age. I had these finches for so many years that I had judgement about determining the age of even their eggs. ❤ This bird is really lovely. Their mating song that a male sings is so sweet. They lay new eggs approximately every 40 days and that's how their circle goes on. They usually have about 3 to 5 new babies every 40 days. ❤ Life has now turned so busy and I cannot spare time to have them again. I, therefore, miss them. 😢

I owned a pair of zebra finches when I was in college and I loved them. I could imitate the sound of the male bird and I'd call out to him as soon as I'd walk the door. He would always respond. Zebra finches make great little companions to have 😊

We used to have a little Finch, his favorite spot was looking out of the opening of my husband's hat, he used to wear his cap backwards, and that little bird would be right there, looking around, just enjoying his day ❤️

this video has been a very helpful first step in caring for finches! recently a house finch nest on my house was abandoned, but i was able to save the egg! it is now on day ten on incuation, and should hatch in a week or so! many thanks to you for making this video, as it has helped me understand what im getting myself into with this little one! :D

I just adore how gentle you are with these tiny, helpless little creatures. How you give them so much more than food and life. The strokes, the breath, the love and warmth of another creature to tell them they are loved.

I love this so much! I raised one of these wee birds from about a week old when it was just opening it’s eyes, that was hard enough I can’t imagine how hard it would be from hatch.

Such a beautiful little bird! I held my breath when you were trying to feed her that first time- she was SO tiny! I would be scared to touch her thinking she could get hurt. It's incredible how gentle and motivated you are to give every little creature a chance at life. I don't know why, but when I saw her the name "Zuzu" came to mind. I think it suits her :)
