Jack Black is killing it as Bowser, I really wasn't expecting him to have such a fitting voice for the character; truly seems more menacing than I'm used to.
@N19ntendoDS Exactly! If Nintendo didn’t think he’d be suitable for Mario he wouldn’t have been hired! And besides that Chris Pratt is a Great Actor who can portray Energy and Emotion to any Character he plays so this means we do have a professional Actor playing Mario.

Suddenly my expectations for this movie changed completely! Regardless of how the film turns out, they have nailed the aesthetic completely, everything about this looks & feels like Mario. It honestly looks like they know what they’re doing with this movie. the little wahoo at the end got me so hyped. 🤣
The good & the bad. First the good, the visuals are fantastic & the story elements, characters & locations seem to be pulled directly from the games. Now the bad the VA's are a mixed bag. You got Bowser & peach sounding great with Toad sounding ok (thank you for not using the nails on chalkboard version of his voice) but then both Mario & Luigi sound NOTHING like their supposed to. They both sound like they're just reading the script straight through just for the paycheck. A better attempt then the 1993 live action one. But much like the Sonic movies this still needs improvements it will hopefully get.
Everything looks amazing and the characrers sound incredible....except Mario. The ONLY time i could really hear and feel excitement for his characrer was the final "wahoo" at the end where he actually sounds luke how Mario should! Even Luigi soynds better than him!!! Everybody else is perfect. Im excited for this movie but oh my god Pratt was the WORST choice for that role jfc
@Bully Maguire I totally respect your opinion! I get that the choice for the VA was so he would have the Brooklyn accent from the old cartoon and shows, but personally Pratt sounds reall unenthusiastic throughout the trailer clips we see. It sounds forced and ingenuine, kinda like "lets get this over with". I do agree that having Martinet do his Mario voice would be kinda weird, but I also think if he were to do it tuned down so its not nearly as extreme, that would be better.
Eh, disagree. Mario is from Brooklyn with Italian roots but he is technically American. He’s supposed to have a Brooklyn accent. If you grew up with the cartoons like myself, he always had a deeper voice until Mario 64 came out. THAT was a culture shock for me as I remember thinking why does Mario sound like his nuts got kicked into his stomach, and over time got used to it, as people will do with Pratt. Truth be told, if Martinet did Mario for a full length movie it would eventually get on my nerves. He’s great for sound bits but I highly doubt it could work for a full scripts
4 movies : this first one, Sarasaland with Daisy and Wario, a 3rd for Luigi's mansion and maybe bring Waluigi as the bad guy and lastly Mario galaxy for Rosalina.
I literally smiled when I saw this trailer. I wasn’t over-the-top happy. I was just, happy. Because it feels like a special love letter to fans of the Mario franchise. It would not just be an epic movie. I think this is the start of something special.
I love how proud he is of his designs, showing the new model of Donkey Kong at the end. Lots of passion in this. Next I hope we get even more Luigi! Charlie Day is killing it.
I really hope that after this movie, which I am sure will be a big success, that more games come with Peach as the main character. Like I would definitely play a game where Peach wears her biker outfit and uses that awesome halberd!

Based off the presentations so far, this movie seems like one big, awesome love letter to the Mario franchise, and I'm all about that. I'm excited to see how this will turn out when released!

no but bowser is capturing all of the lands it seems. luigi propably just ran into him by some accident where mario and luigi got seperated. he may geht caught at some point but the point of this movie is more likely to be stopping bowser from advancing further than rescuing luigi. not saying that is not also happening but its not the main focus of that movie. bowser capturing the ice/pinguin kingdom in the first trailer and the map in the second trailer show this mostly clearly. bowser will at some point propably reach the mushroom kingdom in a showdown
Dammit the voice is kinda growing on me. And damn they are really throwing all the games onto ain't they you saw 5he original of Mario vs donkey Kong, classic Mario, newer Mario, they talked about the galaxies, i think Luigi had his vacuum there in the warp thing with Mario there and then the karts at the end this is actually starting to look really really good. And I like that they make Mario out to be stumbling his way through being heroic and not just coming in being the Mario of legends this is obviously his first adventure. Dammit I'm sold
I have a question for everyone: is it me, or does Peach’s design look like a generic Illumination design for a female character? (I’m still really excited for this movie to come out, I think so far most of what we’ve seen has been really good, this is just something I’ve thought ever since this trailer first came out and I want to see if anyone else felt similar).

Alright, so, has anyone else noticed that Samus Aran may have replaced Princess Toadstool at some point? I mean she wears the gown amazingly, but, her bounty-hunter one-woman-army attitude is a far fetch from the usual screaming ditsy princess Nintendo themselves put out for over twenty years, right? If anything, I'm kinda disappointed Mario is getting the abuse- this man runs continents and thwarts armies without as much as getting touched more than twice. This movie is gonna take some getting used to...

That yellow toad is exactly how I imagined toad to really sound. That being said, some of my fondest memories are of when my family would sit on the couch playing Mario 64. So I really look forward to seeing this

Ok, now I’m excited for this movie. Charlie Day as Luigi is great. Peach’s as Anna Taylor is good too. DK looks good as well. We didn’t hear him much, but that’s alright. He seems to have the same looks as his arcade artwork style and that’s amazing. And the Mario Kart scene was fantastic. I can’t wait to see this when it comes out in theaters. Edit: I just saw Luigi with some kind of backpack. Luigi’s Mansion reference maybe.

Fix the joysticks first!!!! It’s a shame that we’re spending so much on joysticks that doesn’t last and are so damn problematic you can’t even enjoy a game. Pads are soooo expensive and don’t last! I don’t know how you guys get away with such bug filled tech at high price.
I second this, one of the best villains ever in a Mario game. Illumination would do great with him as a villain, but unless teams get more creative freedom to bring back characters like that, both Count Bleck and Fawful are in creative writing limbo
This trailer confirms that The Super Mario Bros Movie is going to be amazing! Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach is great. The cinematic version of Mario's world looks stunning. The references to Mario Kart was nice. I'm surprised that Peach isn't captured in the movie, and is instead defending her kingdom and fighting to stop Bowser from world domination. Charlie Day as Luigi seems to be my only problem. On my first viewing of the trailer, I didn't like his Luigi voice. I'll give him this though, Charlie sounds like he's putting more effort for his Luigi voice than Chris Pratt for his Mario voice. Maybe his Luigi voice will grow on me, but who can blame me; I'm a big Luigi fan. Despite my thoughts of the actors for the Mario Bros this is going be one heck of a movie that.
This animation is some of the best I've seen from Illumination. Peach looks to be a lot more confident than I imagined her to be. Can't wait to see this movie in theaters soon enough.

Literally almost every animated movies has references and cliches, almost as if most movies need them to actually have a chance of being good. Lol🙃 I’m guessing you’re the kind of guy who assumes literally every animated movie released past 2008 is exactly the same without even seeing them. Which seems even more lazy to me than anything Illumination ever done. Maybe try making your own original, unique animated movie that’s like nothing anyone has ever seen before, yourself Then you can keep talking.
I grew up with Nintendo and Sega Genesis so I love Mario and Luigi, and Donkey Kong and Sonic and Tails but what bothers me is. Luigi is always getting crap on like why is the princess, with Mario instead of Luigi shouldn't be the other way around with, Princess Peach is kidnapped by Bowser because he wants Mario and Luigi and Mario and Luigi has to rescue her. Don't tell me it's the other way around and they have to rescue Luigi to me that's stupid, you don't see Sega treating Sonic's best pal Tails like that, every solo Mario game Luigi is nowhere to be found and not playable this is one of the reasons why I like Luigi more than Mario always hogging the spotlight, and I think in my opinion it should have been Mario and Luigi rescuing the princess, it's called Super Mario Bros. not Mario and the Princess to the rescue,
Producers are desperate to maintain a progressive image at all times, so they force all kids movies to appeal to what they think an idealized progressive parent would want for their little girl, as well as for their little boy who might have an interest in becoming a girl. That's the answer.
I like how they're paying homage to all the Mario games. There's even a Super Mario Galaxy reference when Peach says "A lot of galaxies". I wonder if it could be hinting a possible sequel with Rosalina

It seems really awesome how many Mario things are being included from characters to level pieces to even Mario cart, rainbow road, and mentions of galaxies. I just hope they don’t try to cram so much into its runtime the plot suffers. Leave something for movie 2 you know
I’m so excited for this film next year can’t wait! Also the fact peach says “there’s a bunch of galaxies/universes out there” speaks volumes that we’ll more likely move to Galaxy related stuff if this does well. Hopeful for this movie and Galaxy related stuff in some way! Especially if Rosalina shows up as potential post credits if they do one.
I love when Anya Taylor-Joy speaks, she mixes the American and British accents I love it Even more remarkable when she speaks Spanish, as she spent most of her childhood in Argentina
Hey Nintendo, after the Mario movie you should make a Splatoon anime movie or a Legend of Zelda Breath of the wild movie with the same animation style as in the game or the spider verse animation style would work too:) So excited for this movie 🍿

@b the problem isnt her being independent (besides shes a princess for a reason), its her coming off as so "strong and independent" that her sweet, gentle, dainty energy - yknow, the ICONIC traits that seperate her from daisy and all the other princesses - is literally nowhere to be found. i hope the movie in its entirety will prove me wrong but since they gave her The Stong Female Main Character voice, i dont have high hopes rn

It’s not like she’s completely weak either, there are many games where she is playable and actually saves mario himself.. does that bother u too?

@Hakej True, Chris Pratt isn't even trying. Like that part where the fish hits him in the face. No emotion at all. The fact Nintendo would make a mistake like this is insane. Pratt ruined the whole movie.

@Hakej in the end of the day you just watch the animastion and will forget the voice, even Sonic voice is not orginal and people loved it not forget Sonic have WAY much more line in his own game then Mario ever did and this Coen from Mario fan Mario only have sound box he never really talk in his game to begin with and if he doenst it sound like made up Italianen words, some people already manstion it the voice in this movie should be more of a Brooklyn voice. Even if Christ patt voice doenst do the job he decent/okay im pretty you most of you guys who complain will only remember Jack voice in the end -_-

Ironically Sonic The Hedgehog on the Genesis was my introduction to video games but later (especially with the N64 and GameCube) Nintendo formed a very special place in my heart. With games such as Mario Maker and innovative peripherals (the Wiimote and gamepad) you've changed how people interact and socialize through the medium. This is so visually flawless. The animation is also flawless. The references from the games makes for a very unique looking universe. This trailer put the biggest smile on my face that I've had in a LONG while. So excited for this. Been hoping for a good Mario movie since I was a kid. One of a kind!

The movie looks to be top notch, except for Chris Pratt as Mario. Chris Pratt is great in other roles, but Mario needs to sound more like Mario. The "Wa-ho!" at the end of the trailer is the closest we get and it sounds forced. Why couldn't they just get Charles Martinet to voice him??
Chris Pratt is trying at least. I’m glad that he is finding unique to sound similar to the original Mario voice. I also hope they have a friendly creatures that are usually enemies (like shy guy, Koopa, Bo-omb) since their personality doesn’t seem evil. But most of all, they need to drop kick a penguin.
This looks like a fun time! Interesting to swap Peach and Luigi's roles but honestly makes more sense "Who is he gonna want to resuce a random girl he never met or his brother" Plus it opens up some fun dynamics for Peach and Mario to have an adventure together
It kind of makes sense, much like it did in the original Mario movie with Daisy. Peach has been in the whole "warring kingdoms" thing, Mario and Luigi are out of their element. They'll catch up, and Mario will probably pass her. Probably.
@BJGvideos I don’t really see Peach being playable as really all that ‘woke’ but I do see where Peach not being kidnapped (where that is the premise of a lot of games) could mean they are doing woke stuff. I’d like to see Mario have to rescue Peach in some fashion. And I don’t know, maybe I’m sensitive to it but seeing Peach get disappointed in Mario failing seems like it could be that, women getting disappointed/annoyed at men has been huge in media in the last few decades and definitely is part of wokeness in the media. Just hopefully it’s not where Peach is omnipotent and can do no wrong

Saw the second trailer already too! The floating question mark blocks, the red steel joints and the checkpoint flag make quite a predicament to all the games, same for the Rainbow Road and the karts; the Piranha flowers and Cheep Cheeps surely counted as well, including all the multi-colored Toads and the interior of Peach's castle.
Love how practically every essential Mario character is important to the story in some way or another. The fact that pretty much every aspect of the Mario history is being included in some way makes me happy, the easter eggs are about to be insane. I hope the makers are passionate about the film, and after seeing a glimpse of Mario Vs Donkey Kong, I really hope they make a Smash Bros animated movie 🤞
@Jay Den just makes sense to me that there's too many stories to tell. it'd be rushed or very bland if they only concentrated on a few characters over ne film. also if the first series was successful, the second and third etc can gradually introduce new characters. However, Nintendo haven't yet put voices to iconic characters like Link so they MAY be hesitant to produce something like a Smash Bros show without having clarified the sound of that character. the same reason (among others) that they haven't approved any Legend of Zelda or other Nintendo productions. However if this film is received well it could open the door for future shows like LoZ, Metroid, Donkey Kong etc... I'd watch them all!
@Dave The Impaler I suppose so, but Subspace Emissary is more or less what I have in mind when I imagine a smash movie. They have a common threat, and subplots that are enjoyable. Heroes don't necessarily have to fight heroes, heroes vs another games villain is one way as a means to avoid heroes fighting eachother. Also the misunderstandings causing some of the fights, and them joining forces was fantastic, hence me wanting a Subspace Emissary like plot. Though logically speaking, following the Smash timeline would make more sense, though the newer movies aren't 100% accurate to their source franchise, and could mean for a new plot. Just getting a Smash movie would be great, but I'd personally prefer a non-toy version ❤️
Mario was originally from brooklyn, and was never Italian, so an idea I got is maybe mario inherited the voice from the mushroom kingdom (basically because the mushroom kingdom is all upbeat and zany that mario was becoming more upbeat and zany as well) and Chris will do more mario voice over the course of the movie. I hope so atleast.
The throwback scenes are well done like the flying Cheep Cheeps on the bridge or the scaffolding with Donkey Kong. The Mario Kart scene definitely puts smiles on peoples faces. Hopefully Daisy shows up, with her "Hi, I'm Daisy" line !!
If they not in the first movie they can always come in the 2 Im a huge Daisy fan so i whould be sad if she not there but if they chould make a 2 with her more and Luigi i whould love it

I’m not gonna lie. It actually looks good. Like really good. I’ve watched this like 11 times and the Mario Kart scene towards the end makes me smile like a small child every time I can’t help it.😊
I definitely have reservations about Chris Pratt voicing Mario, and I Really Hope Princess Peach isn't going to be a Mary Sue... But I'm still excited to see it, and I don't get excited about things very often! I grew up in the 80s & 90s, so Nintendo & SMB were a Huge part of my childhood!
