The problem is, the Warden is quite critical of your choice of music, only one of the music discs works and it's random per warden. Hope you like swapping music discs while running around a jukebox trying to stay alive!
“The Warden” is an interesting name choice, and i’ve got a theory for that. Wardens, like wardens of prisons, are built to keep things in. To protect something and make sure it’s preserved, like prisoners in their jail cell. A warden in this context would want to keep their inmates alive and in order, in check. In Minecraft’s context, i propose the Wardens purpose is to protect whatever’s in the Deep Dark- which could be extremely valuable seeing as there’s an entire creature(s) to this cause. An ancient civilization dwelled long ago beneath the ground and harnessed their surroundings, or the power of the Skulk to their advantage. They manufactured and created protectors (the warden) and other systems for their civilization. Much like how Villagers create Iron Golems to protect their village. As the last of the Deep Dark died, their creations were still left behind and thriving from their remains. This is what the Warden protects. This civilization must’ve been adapted to the dark since it’s so hard to see and it’s tech is based on smell and sound rather than sight… I’m curious to see more lore and detail put into the Deep Dark soon!
one could also theorize that the warden IS the remains of people who had fallen there. since skulk absorbs exp, the life essence used in magic. who is to say it didnt gather the souls of explorers and animated a golem using them as magical fuel. i mean, if you look at the different versions of the warden, you can see they they are always made of skulk. or at least part of them was. now, idk how this ties to the name, but its an interesting theory to me. perhaps, the warden exists to keep creatures who wander in from leaving. to die and give their exp/soul to the skulk. wait... isnt that how it spreads? i could be remembering wrong but...
I'm really glad they didn't do the trypophobia design, even as someone who loves body horror. If they did do it I'd hope they'd allow for an alternative for those who suffer from tryophobia.
@most definitely not a durian Okay, but the only way people can get over an irrational fear is by facing it head on without mercy... plus I just like scaring people.
Let. People. Suffer. Make it scarier. Scare the daylights out of the children. Give even the toughest worriors nightmares. The Hollowed design should stay... without alternatives
The reason they called it the “warden” is because of its purpose. What “warden” means is somebody in charge of protecting something or to take care of something.

i wonder why they would consider designing the sculks after a phobia. then, the people with the fear might not want to interact with the sculks since it triggers their phobia.
I actually had a dream this night about the 1.19 update. I was just mining for diamonds and found the biome, i fell down and the sculk sensor went off and i ran to the biome. There were like 5 wardens and i hid, found a chest, and found 40 enchanted iron ingots, an enchanted diamond chestplate and some nice iron boots. (don't ask) it was a double chest (again, don't ask) and i created a perfect distraction when they ran after me. I just placed down a jukebox and played chirp on it and ran away... Then i woke up
The absolute wave oc relief I just felt knowing Skulk textures were almost Trypophobia themed 💀 I loved all of the design ideas but that one has my skin crawling 😂 I LOVE the blues in the one y'all went with tho
"We don't want to force players to engage with stealth systems they're not interested in" Me and my friends about to loot the Deep Dark Ruins with Mission Impossible theme in background: *"Well, no, but actually yes"*
I think I understand why it's called the Warden, the souls from other mobs are prisoners, trapped in the sculk and the Warden is a prison guard who captures new prisoners who trespass the deep dark.
@marcello deltoro ye but I want the new blocks and those kinds of things, I dont want to have 1 thing, like pvp, ruinning my expierience. thats why I play in 1.8 bruh
My theory is that this ancient city had an ancient civilization living in it (ancient builders) and the warden was like a protector or golem (hence the name Warden) .But the sculk infection infected it killing everyone but the warden survived but corrupted by the sculk.
With this new update coming to Minecraft, I feel a Minecraft dungeons Deep Dark DLC would be amazing seeing how much structure is being put into the caves and having so many cave themed mobs! If this doesn’t happen, then I’m still happy we’re getting this in the main game!!!
I love this style of video presentation for design concepts! The sense of humor shows the mindset of the dev team is still very much in tune with the community, something both unique to this game, and essential to its success. Well done!
Investigue estas ciudades antiguas del guardia mismo aparecieron dos en el mismo lado y las revise Pero los dos no salían guarden y se sonido pero nada
i want to see huge varieties of mobs like how terraria does and each boss can only be killed at a certant time or can be killed after another. i also want to see a infection for every boss killed.

@Nom Nom As someone who likes watching genetically modified mobs on steroids fight to the death, the Warden is the third-best present I could've ever wish for.
a very cool video! Something I wanted to suggest about the Warden is that if the player is X number of blocks above the warden (Ex: in a 4 tower) he can hit the ground breaking some blocks, or throwing the player backwards causing him to fall from the tower with the knockback.
Just an idea to make wanting to beat the warden more enticing. Get the pieces of the disc, beat 3 wardens for a specialized drop that all combines for an achievement of an expanded inventory similar to the backpack mod that is only accessible with this achievement.
"Allow me to introduce you to Minecraft's most horrific feature yet." "The combat!" Never have I seen a funnier, well delivered, self-depreciating joke in my life. Mojang, you have all my respect.
@Joris Broooo I ain't gonna waste too much time replying to this - I just can't let bad vibes take over, dude, it's that simple. Also, I really can't take you seriously with that pfp and name
I honestly loved the rust concept. With the copper golem having been a possibility and with copper oxidization, it could’ve given a more abandoned industrial vibe to the world. And with the theory that there were ancient builders, there could be the idea that the consequences of their actions would be a rust like corruption to the world.
I really like the design of the hollow mob (especially it's crystal and moss varients) and those trypaphobia designs ought to be part of whatever the next dimension is. they're very unique and i can totally envision them being part of a more unique dimension in order to distinguish itself from the other 3. A "rot" dimension sounds absolutely amazing.
Você deixa em casa dele a resistência o ataque é resistência e também agilidade dele multiplique cem vezes ele fica muito mais forte adicione o novos minérios e o novo mundo que seja o mundo além do ender
@MelancholyCat You use them like you are supposed to spawn chickens and actually fish instead of bugging out the other players movement and honestly simplifying combat was a great idea because it's a game for children and old combat literally gave people carpal tunnel.
@MineCreeperLPs then there's no point in using rods and eggs, that's my whole point. Pre 1.9 pvp, you can use those items effectively in close range to mess up someone's advance, now you can't. Post 1.9 has inherently less tactics than pre 1.9 pvp.
@STM The cooldown makes using eggs or fishing rods useless. Why bother using them when the enemy can get to you faster and hit you, you won't be able to retaliate quick enough by the time you switch back to your main weapon and wait for the item cooldown. The item cooldowns made it so using anything else other than your current weapon, food and e-pearls a waste of time.
Would be so awesome if they had the older designs be their own mobs or just different wardens of the same species all living in the Deep Dark. The Stalker at least feels like it could be it's own separate and original mob that could also live in the Deep Dark or maybe a new dark biome similar to the Deep Dark City
I wonder how the warden would actually react to jukeboxes would it be attracted and then prioritise any sound afterward or the jukebox would just completely distract it allowing you to explore the deep dark, we need answers moyang!
@Cool Gamer Oh and I wouldn't call w-tapping a bug, it's made so that you make more knock back at the start of the sprint, which isn't too realistic, but that's how Mojang wanted it.
@coalofdooti 1.9+ pvp requires timing and its better if you're laggy because I live in Africa 1.8 pvp is a janky experience knockback is just bi polar on that version
I love the first warden design kind of made me think of siren head also if you really make the warden respond to a certain type of music I would guess alen Becker gave you inspiration in his avm shorts the warden episode
Maybe it’s called the warden because it was a variation of the iron golems we know today. Except the wardens were creatures that lived in symbiotic harmony with underground villagers that lived in ancient cities, but them became corrupt by the sculkers or something
Seeing the early Warden designs gave me an idea for a texture pack- a Horror themed pack with all of the mobs and blocks having early or scarier designs.
Seeing the Warden rise up from the ground in the Minecon clip was the scariest thing I've ever seen come out of Minecraft. You literally can't hide or run which makes it so scary
I'm *really* glad they're not conforming to the small minority of community members and really taking the time to make this the best update possible. Even if it does have to come out in several stages.
As soon as I saw the beta warden designs I was reeling, talk about an emo phase! Love it, but also, someone make a texture pack with the old designs, yeah?
