Jaiden: "If I shake my hips hard enough for Duna, she should be revived" Me: Funny joke Jai- Game: **Press the A Button rapidly to shake your hips!** Me: Sonofa-
Playing this game when I was younger, I remember steamrolling a good chunk of the early game with this really rare neutral rex dinosaur, and then getting stuck on a fight because he wasn't strong enough and since he was so rare I never had any other bones for him
@ditto For future reference, a "rex" is not a type of dinosaur. The word that best suits your description would be "theropod," aka any dinosaur that walked on 2 legs.
I’ve actually played this game enough to know that Jaiden picked Tarbosaurus as her favorite dinosaur in the beginning, based purely on the clothing her avatar is wearing, because yes, your favorite dinosaur can change what color clothes you wear.
I was interested by your video, and I also love dinosaurs, so I tried to go to Amazon to see if I could purchase this game and experience the fun for myself... $179 Yup, looks like I'm skipping this one.
Having played and absolutely loved this game, I couldn’t understand the type advantages and disadvantages as well. But I came up with a way to understand it: think of earth more like trees. Fire burns down trees, and trees block the wind/air.
When fighting an opposing Dark Prince, an effective counter is to place a unit to tank its charge attack, such as a Knight. However, unlike the Prince, a high hitpoint troop is much more effective to counter the Dark Prince than deploying low hitpoint units to counter the card, because the Dark Prince deals area damage and deals significantly less damage than the Prince. Even if the player surrounds him with troops, his 360º charge attack will damage them all. It can be beneficial to deploy a cheap unit to absorb the Dark Prince's charge attack before deploying your tank counter, as it will preserve more of your defender's health for a possible counterpush. You can also use a stunning card like a Zap to reset his charge and deal a bit of damage to him. Barbarians and Rascals are still a good counter as their staggered deploy means the Dark Prince's charge attack will only hit one or just a fraction of the units, allowing the others to stay alive and attack. However, cheaper staggered swarms will still die to the Dark Prince fairly quickly, so it is not recommended to use them as a counter. Excess damage from destroying the Dark Prince's shield will not affect his actual hitpoints. For instance, the Dark Prince has 199 shield hitpoints, and a Lightning does 877 damage to him, the extra 678 damage will be completely negated, making it ineffective to use high Elixir spells on him. The shield also makes him effective at countering high single damage units like the Prince or Sparky. The Dark Prince fills multiple roles within one deck due to his moderate-high hitpoints, strong splash attack, and shield. He can be used to take out support units like a Musketeer behind a tank, absorb damage from big units with his shield, support pushes, and rush from the bridge. Even though the Dark Prince deals less damage than the Prince, it is a good idea to take care of him before he reaches the tower as he can still deal a considerable amount of damage to the player's tower. The Electro Wizard is effective at stopping the Dark Prince with his stun attacks, preventing the Dark Prince from charging at all. The Dark Prince can fully counter unsupported Elite Barbarians with the help of a Crown Tower for a positive Elixir trade. He should be placed a short distance away from the Elite Barbarians if possible so that he is not hit during his deployment time. The Dark Prince can be paired with fast-moving troops that target buildings such as Hog Rider. The Dark Prince's fast charge speed will make him aligned with the troop. The Dark Prince then will eliminate any swarms, while the troop moves to attack the tower. However, this combo is very vulnerable to air swarms like the Minion Horde since these troops do not target air. An attacking Dark Prince in affiliation with the Prince is immensely effective. The Dark Prince can eliminate opposing low hitpoint troops while the Prince charges toward the enemy Tower, unhindered. This is known as the Double Prince combo and is also frequently used with a tank like the Giant. This combo is vulnerable to air cards, so be prepared with the proper spells. This strategy can be shut down with an Inferno Tower paired with swarm cards such as a tank and high-damage troop combo or by luring the troops to the middle. This lets both Arena Towers engage the pair, annihilating them. If you kite them far enough, they may do a lane swap and target the completely wrong Tower. Since this combo costs a lot of Elixir, attacking in the other lane can be a good way to prevent the opponent from effectively executing it. Unlike the Battle Ram, the Dark Prince has an immunity to all forms of knockback, except for The Log. Because of this, it is not a good idea to use spells like Fireball or Giant Snowball to reset the Dark Prince's charge, nor is it a good idea to use a Bowler against the Dark Prince. Dark Prince's charge can fully counter Goblin Barrel if you place him behind your King Tower as the opponent plays Goblin Barrel, The Dark Prince will 360 splash onto all three goblins taking zero damage. This is especially effective if you have just placed your spell beforehand. History The Dark Prince was added to the game on 2/29/16 with the March 2016 Update. On 23/3/16, a Balance Update decreased the Dark Prince's charge speed by 13%. The Dark Prince description changed with the May 2016 Update. It used to say, "Dealing area damage with each swing and double after charging, the Dark Prince is a formidable fighter. To harm his squishy core, break his shield first." On 4/7/16, the Tournaments Update increased the Dark Prince's damage by 8% and made him unaffected by pushback. On 24/8/16, a Balance Update increased the Dark Prince's damage by 7.5%. On 13/2/17, a Balance Update increased the Dark Prince's hitpoints by 5%. On 11/8/17, a Balance Update increased the Dark Prince's damage by 6% and increased his hit speed to 1.4 seconds (from 1.5 seconds). On 12/2/18, a Balance Update increased the Dark Prince's hitpoints by 5% and increased his hit speed to 1.3 seconds (from 1.4 seconds). On 25/4/18, the Clan Wars update decreased the Dark Prince’s Shield hitpoints by 25%. On 20/6/18, the Summer Update increased the distance required for charging to 3.5 tiles (from 2.5). On 6/5/19, a Balance Update increased his range by 20% and increased his area splash radius by 25%. The area splash radius change affects both his normal attack and charging 360º attack. On 1/7/19, a 'Rulebook' Update decreased the Dark Prince's range from 1.25 to 1.2 (now classified as Melee: Medium). This also slightly decreased the splash radius of both his normal attack and charging attack by 5%. On 2/9/19, a Balance Update decreased the Dark Prince's splash radius to 1.1 tiles (from 1.2 tiles). On 27/10/21, the 2021 Quarter 3 Update added the level 14 Dark Prince. On 3/2/22, a a Balance Update decreased the Dark Prince's Hitpoints by 3% and made the him able to jump over the river. Trivia The Dark Prince, Valkyrie, Mega Knight, Royal Ghost, and the Skeleton King are the only melee troops that deal area damage. The Prince, Battle Ram, Dark Prince, Bandit, Mega Knight and Ram Rider are the only troop cards in the game that have varying attack damage and speed (not including death damage like that of the Giant Skeleton). The Dark Prince and the Mega Knight are the only cards other than death damage cards to have two types of attack; a normal splash like the Wizard, and a 360-degree one like the Valkyrie. Coincidentally, they are both melee splash-damage troops. The Dark Prince are 1 of the 4 troops to have a shield, along with the Royal Recruits, Guards, and the Cannon Cart. Similar to his counterpart, once he starts charging, a sound effect will play. However, the Dark Prince's audio is muffled and played in a lower pitch compared to the Prince. From the Royal Recruits' description, it is indicated that they can be promoted to be Dark Princes at some point. The Dark Prince is the subject of 2 Emotes. As his description claims, he indeed sounds like he has a bucket on his head. When the Dark Prince is defeated, his spiked club falls to the ground. The other units that drop items upon death are the Knight, Rascals, Sparky, Guards, Mega Minion, Mega Knight, Executioner, Cannon Cart, and Golden Knight.
To add to the craziness of the lore, Dr Diggins gets sent back in time and you have to find his fossilized corpse in the present so you can clean it and revive him just like a vivosaur.
@Stroopwafel Falafel Well he technically doesn't "fossilize", he uses one of the Dinaurian stone sleep devices, which he knew would be found in the classified crashed ship because he used that tech as the basis for vivosaur revival technology.
Thanks to videos like this and stuff like Tom Fawkes's TRG animations, I always loved imagining people as the characters in game, it makes it funny to imagine how it would all look speaking as the characters or just dressed as them.
I have watched this video so many times since it has come out, because Jaiden's videos are just so great I can see them 100 times and never be bored, but this was the first time I paused on the credits part lol. A+ to whomsoever specially wrote all those lines 👏👏👏
This has to be the funniest video of yours, that I’ve been watching. I laughed way too hard at a lot of your moments in this one. Your content is amazing!
Fun fact: the sequel to this game improves upon literally everything (except you can't smooch an alien dinosaur girl). The battle mechanics are more refined and actually really fun, the fossil excavations are more varied and... still kind of a chore, but more interesting (some vivosaurs have all of their parts in a single giant fossil rock, for instance), the story is even more buck wild. All the new vivosaur designs for that one are great, you get a lot more variation too with things like trilobites, aurochs, and tanystropheus (please look up tanystropheus, he's a lizard who decided to become a living fishing rod and I love him). It's genuinely just better in literally every way, I highly recommend trying it Then the third game shits on all of it by making a completely different battle system that sucks, so we don't talk about that one
Everyone needs to stop hating on the third game. Sure, it ruined a perfectly fine battle system, but it made exploration so much more fun! Also the coop was awesome and the upgrade system was a really good incentive to compete in tournaments and such.
As seems to be a trend with me, I got the second game and it was years before I learned it was a sequel all along. Same thing happened with Banjo-Tooie.
"Oh boy, I love watching Jaiden's videos at night on my TV, cause she is mostly pretty level-voiced and there's no need to worry my TV will wake up the entire house". And then Jaiden decides to scream into the mic. I wasn't that sleepy anyways
If I remember right, the teleport didn't work so you and Duna survived by fossilizing yourselves so that you could be recovered later. You were able to be revived successfully but Duna wasn't. Something about the energy from Guhnash blowing up causing whatever device you used to fossilize yourselves to malfunction.
this video got me to download a rom of this game for my DS flashcart, i'm actually super excited to play it! jaiden's love of really weird old DS games makes me so happy
Ha!! I've had this game since I was in elementary. I loved the plot of this and I am currently still searching for all fossils. I got introduced to the game by a friend. It was fossil fighter champions but I had gotten the wrong one at gamestop which was this one. My only regret is not being able to find Fossil Fighters Champions
I've been searching for a new Nintendo for 2 years now to finish the game, I am just 10 vivisource short of completing everything and those would be the ones I would have to unlock by maxing out all of them I seriously miss this game and I wish it would come out with a remaster because it was a seriously underrated game
Just realized i never finished the game 😂 love this game so much when i was young , all me and my cousin did was just battle each other thats probably why we never finished lol
I got this game a LONG time ago in elementary school, I remember I wanted another game but grabbed this one in a hurry when my mom was rushing me. best mistake ever. I ended up enjoying it even more than pokemon lol, and it was DEFINITELY more fun than the original game I was trying to get
This was hilarious! I remembered playing this game, then when you showed the graphics, I was like wtf!! that looks awful! i actually went and found my copy and turns out I played Fossil Fighters Champions. Apparently they did a big graphics boost for the second(?) game lol Edit: Now after watching this whole video im wondering if maybe i never finished the ff champions game and whether there was any big space plot twist halfway through! probably not though lol
“Play Alone” - yes please, and LOVING it!! I miss these story time videos, but I’ve waited and waited and not peeked and now I’m rewatching one video every couple of weeks as a treat to me 😆 I rewatched the Ghost Speed Dating video last week. I really like the drawing style/s used in that one. I loved the bank heist, and the ghost that didn’t know they were......well, a ghost. Anyway, thanks again 🙂🐿🌈 Play with Another....Person? OR Play with Another non-Person? You choose...young “man” Also - vivasaur just sounds wrong
I remember the game well but I never knew of the other two that were released but overall the first one was really a good game in my opinion from what I remember from many years ago
I have vivid memories of playing the second one, fossil fighters champions. I remember nothing except for a character called Pauleen, who I thought was really cool
2:15 "oh so your saying i cant have a dinosaur with just legs" "JUST WATCH ME LET ME REVIVE THEM LEGS THEY"LL KICK YOUR"E AS-" 2:32 "after hearing that part i did a quick scientific test" 2"34 "THE SOULS OF PEOPLE WHO DIED IN HELL SCREAMING" "yep screaming just works as well" 7:51 "GIVE ME THE IDOLS" "NO" "GIVE ME THE IDOLS" "NO WAIT YOUR"E A DINOSAUR NOW!? WAIIT WERE FIGHTING???!!!!"
Yeah, to say the series got a sequel in the first place from this was surprising. Good thing the sequel Fossil Fighters Champions fixed everything except the story, because who cares about plot when you can have not-Godzilla in your party.
I remember when I played this game for the first time. When I got the point, where you had to choose whether to take Rosie or Dina into space with you. Me being the dumb semi-illiterate kid that I was, of course didn't read Rosie's pleads and choose better option, the talking alien dinosaur known as Dina. But after make that decision I really felt guilty. So I closed the game and restarting it from scratch and picking Rosie, AND JOKES ON ME, SHE ENDS UP DEAD!
