Vasy made some incredible saves but in the end the AVs firing squad won out. We lost but I'm still proud of the Lightning, great game. Lost the battle but not the war yet, lets GO ⚡!
The odd part of that OT goal is that the ref was looking right at the puck as it laid beneath the netting and didn't signal goal. What was he waiting for?.
I doubted them for the playoffs because they always let me down but now I can't believe we're one game away from possibly closing out a Stanley cup win for the first time in 2 decades, GO AVALANCHE!!!!!!!!!! 😁
The last two weeks of the playoffs and not winning the President’s Trophy dragged down my expectations for the Avs. It is a very pleasant surprise to us both! GO AVS GO!!!
I'll always be a die hard Bruins fan, but you got to give credit when credits due. The Avs have been nothing short of remarkable this season and playoffs. I hope they finally take home the cup this year! Both teams played one hell of a game!
@Richard Roland keep telling yourself that bud. Maybe your own player shouldn’t have run into him. Y’all sure think Kadri could have avoided contact. Even though it’s obvious he was hurt by the collision with the blues player
@US-Bahn no? I like the Ducks and currently say things like.. ‘The Ducks will be competitive again in a few seasons, they’re going through growing pains’ or ‘that come back Anaheim had against Edmonton in Game 5 was absolutely phenomenal’ I’m not apart of that team so.. when speaking to others about them, I don’t include myself like I am.
@Eric Hamilton That’s how any fan talks everywhere. When your team wins its “We win!” When your team loses its “They lost.” A universal extension of self in good times and dissociation in bad. You didn’t know that?
Lol my husband and I were like "did we win?" At the end. We never saw the puck. Until the camera zoomed in, then we were laughing so hard and cheering. Kadris first game back and he saves the day! Go Avs Go! See ya Friday at the Ball!
@Brandon Villalobos ok 😂 still happy af yall won whether u wanted me to “root” for yall or whatever ur problem was 😂 just happy yall got the win cuz Mckinnon deserved it
Yeah, I don't think the refs saw the puck. Being at ice level it was very hard to see since it was not only caught up in the netting, but it was in a major seam along the cage structure. You had to look at the replay to see it. Didn't take long to review. Awesome win. I'm a Red Wings fan and loathe as I am to root for the Avs, I want them to win it since Tampa already has the last 2 cups.
Why not? They have two shots to win at home in the worst case scenario, they just proved they can win it Tampa as well so even if they lose Fri, it’s not like they don’t have a great look at winning the cup
No Tampa can’t afford to lose any of the next three lol. We literally just won in Tampa they haven’t won in Denver. Stop talking like this avs team is the rangers. The Avs are the better team.
@Conor @Conor ON THE CONTRARY, YOU MAINTAINED THAT REFUSING TO SOUND THE HORN WAS "CLASSY", AS OPPOSED TO TRYING TO HIDE AN OPPONENT'S GOAL. IF YOU ARE NOW CLARIFYING YOUR ORIGINAL STATEMENT, THEN I AGREE AND APPRECIATE IT.
@Conor You are SUPPOSED TO BLOW THE HORN TO ACKNOWLEDGE A GOAL SCORED. REFUSAL TO DO SO IS CLASSLESS AND INDICATES CHEATING BY THE SIDE REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE GOAL.
After Kuemper gave up the soft goal to Hedman, I thought Kuemper would surely crumble again. He showed a lot of heart and focus to perform solidly and kept the team in the game. Huge game for Kuemper and the Avs tonight!
@lucas joice This is just mental gymnastics to the highest degree and so off topic. Knowing whether the ice was intentionally made slushy or not is not as complex as all those scenarios you mentioned. Topics like how the universe is created and whether or not God is real are examples of things that aren't 100% factually proven but one side actually has evidence to support their viewpoint. Your only evidence here is basically "people do anything to win" and while that is true to an extent, I've already justified my argument as to why meddling with the ice here is not likely. It's also a pretty big coincidence that it just happens to be a hundred degrees outside. Like I said, you wouldn't even be bringing this up if it wasn't for what Kadri said.
@lucas joice "I know for a 100 percent fact that if Denver was 125 degrees, they'd still find a way to have the ice not slushy" That is word for word what you previously said. Now you think it is smart instead of cowardly and undeserving of respect. Yeah it might be the logical thing to do but that doesn't necessarily mean people would do it. It's all speculation because we don't know for sure otherwise we'd probably get multiple incidents of bad ice complaints in the Stanley Cup Finals but we haven't. And using the logic of "doing anything to win" would put into question the legitimacy of every other Stanley Cup champion. Again these things could be happening but personally I wouldn't think too deep into something we don't know for certain. Ultimately whoever wins did so by outplaying the other team fair and square.
@Project Robo dude I just got done implying that I didn't know for a hundred percent fact... I stopped reading after that claim... It is obvious to me that it is very likely you are lacking empathy to know that it's extremely likely if they were using tactics that they would legally do something that would help them win... IDK man champions usually do everything they can to win... If it's legal wouldn't you do anything you can to slow down the fastest team in the league? Do you really think the bolts aren't playing chess while the AVS are playing checkers? Shoot now that I think about it that's not classless that's actually pretty smart... Gotta give them props for your brain is who you are and intelligence trumps all! P.S. I love chess references.
Hard to believe it was that long ago, I was just finishing my junior year of high school that summer. "We saw no light! We saw no signal! ... But they are celebrating at the other end of the ice! What chaos!"
OMG this game had my stress level off the charts. HUGE win!! Lousy first period but came back strong. Kuemper looked good tonight (except for that 2nd goal) and Kadri getting the GW was perfect! 1 more win to go baby!!
I just realized the puck was stuck at the top of the net at the end! I watched this 2 times before and didn’t see it lol. Crazy ending! Such a roller coaster game!
It was so weird how everyone after game 1 was like, "Oh avs you better watch out! Tampa's gonna come out great in game 2!" Then, as we all know, Tampa lost 7-0. Then when Tampa won game 3 everyone's like, "Tampa is going to come back! This is just like the Rangers series!" The avalanche and rangers and very different teams. I think the avs getting a split in this game guaranteed a third stanley cup.
@velveetaslingshot You never know until you know. Tampa came out with a close one tonight. I'm still sticking with Colorado. I think Sunday will be a very high scoring game. I'm going to say Avs win 6-4 with an empty netter.
I agree tampa this tampa that. The Avs have a very good chance of winning the whole enchilada and they have barely talked about the AVS. So biased and one sided. Their play by play also really sucks. Colorado Avs Annoucers are a lot better! They are routing for the lightning. When the avs do something great they barely say anything.
I could’ve sworn it went in and then no one was reacting and then the Avs just started cheering. So reminiscent of Kane in 2010 against Philly. Obviously not as epic but still pretty dope
@Buffalo Nickel And a blatant trip on Hedman which even the announcers knew. Crying to the refs 24/7 is pathetic by any fanbase. Just watch the game and accept that their will always be missed calls
@Max79 you can tell the aves played slower on Tampa ice compared to when they play at Colorado. Tampa faces two things one our speed. Witch we clearly showed kicking Tampa ass 7-0 and second. Our Altitude Aves play way better at home. So don't see you guys winning. Not at our home. Lol
@Paul Welch Given any calls missed against the Avs, there were 2 blatant calls missed against the Lightning at the end of the 3rd (trip and board)... what's your point?
@h d well no team in this era of hockey has a won a Stanley cup being down 3-1 now if tampa was healthy and didn’t long series before the cup final yes it would be a different story but they just don’t have the legs or depth have of tampas team is over 30 compared to the Avs who are just speed demons and u can’t rely on your net minder to win u cup anymore in the early 2000s from 01 to 05 yes but the game is different now the hawks beat tampa because they were faster on all 4 lines and Corey Crawford wasn’t the best to ever be in net but he has 2 rings because he just made the saves he needed to and the guys in front him did the rest u don’t have to have a god net minder to win a cup it’s a team sport
@Max79 That's quite laughable. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume you are stating that win you "gave us" was game 2? That ended 7-0. That wasn't a win you gave us, that was a lesson we gave you on how to dominate for 60 straight. As far as overtime wins go, a win is a win. You may think I'm delusional but there's nothing delusional about the fact that you can't properly structure a sentence and this series is 3-1 heading back to Denver. GO AVS!!!
Avs in 5????? Yeah 2 out of 3 wins in OT. One was when my bolts gave Avs a free win to allow our bolts as a bigger hope and making series more interesting. As a wise man (non delusional) Tampa Bay Lightning fan, we are winning that series 4-3
Yeah after skating on water tonight like Jesus aka Kadri, the AVS actually will show some class actually put ice inside the rink and completely out skate them on real ice because when it comes to real ice hockey it's obvious they can't outskate us... Not twice on our own ice lol. Question is who's a better team St. Louis or the bolts... Right now it looks like the real finals were in the west with the divisional games... Bye bye bolts it's done and it's obvious... Well unless an actual lightning bolt hits the AVALANCHE jet.. I mean first skating on water and then hitting the avalanche plain with a lightning bolt I'd get on my knees and start praying, oh wait all ready did that after I witnessed the trash organization put nothing but water to slow the AVS down.... How pathetic
This has been a great series though I’m a lightning fan. Avs have a great team- they remind me of us 2 years ago- fast and physical. Def the best two teams here in the Stanley Cup and if the Avs win- great job and congrats to the Colorado fans.
You were relieved to get past the Rangers & their home ice advantage. THAT was your moral victory. And you know it. The Rangers were flat on that series, and it even surprised the Lightning players. Everyone thought that it was going to be epic. If fizzled. Like this one. Not being political, but I haven't been 100% physically or mentally since the vaccine shots. The Boston Celtics were on a historic playoff run (look at who their opponents were) but they fizzled out too. Two young athletes died this week. People are still dropping like flies...young. There is SOMETHING amiss that has affected us all. The only thing I can point to PHYSICALLY is that I know all those affected had to have the vaccine shot. The Celtics, Rangers & Bolts ALL looked unstoppable & full of fury. Then...pffft. Nothin'.
tampa looks faded like i’ve been saying since game 2 they put everything in game 3 and that’ll be all she wrote home ice advantage is gonna kill tampa like i said avs in 5 ice up tampa y’all need it
The Mackinnon goal had me laughing. He's tried so hard with his speed and shooting skills all series and has been shut down... until a rebound unknowingly hits his skate and gently glides in. Just goes to show how strange the game is, even the best players need a lot of luck to get a point sometimes. Go Avs go.
Lol my husband and I were like "did we win?" At the end. We never saw the puck. Until the camera zoomed in, then we were laughing so hard and cheering. Kadris first game back and he saves the day! Go Avs Go! See ya Friday at the Ball! aye
After first 2 wins in Colorado I said Colorado in 5 now my prediction looking good Avalanche have a chance win the 2022 Stanley Cup Friday night in game 5.
And that won’t happen. Only reason why Avs won game 4 was because after we scored 2-1 in the mid-2nd period, my bolts offense didn’t know what the hell they were doing. If we kept playing how we were supposed to play, we would’ve won but too bad we didn’t. After we slept ourselves, Avs deserved that win because our lack of offense that we could have made that didn’t get in
It’s over, avs in 5, there’s just no way that the lightning win in Colorado in an elimination game, vasy will play amazing but I just don’t think they will pull it out
@Jack Chadwick I think their chances are nearly 100% because you saw how much Tampa struggled in game 2 they’ve had almost no rest since it’s really hard for them
Skating at altitude makes your body a helluva lot stronger than playing in a swamp at sea level. That's why these Lightning looked tired, beat-up and out of shape against this superior Avs squad.
Yeah when it’s over 100 degrees outside in humid weather it affects the ice now I’ve played watched hockey since the 90s and with how the game is now u cannot count on your net minder to win u a cup from 2000 to 08 it was if u scored atleast 2-3 goals you really had no chance because the goalie pads were wider and bigger when they changed those rules and requirements to get fans to accutally watch hockey the game changed it’s all about speed now and this is why tampa lost too Chicago in 2015 because they were faster from all 4 lines and the Avs added depth players with speed and tampa doesn’t have depth or enough speed
Lightning are old and washed up compared to CO's squad. Tampa has 10 players over the age of 30. Everybody knows it's all down hill after 30 in professional sports. No way Tampa is going to hang with CO in game 5.
I love how the lightning coach was all upset because he thought Colorado had too many on the ice for the OT goal but funny how if you freeze and look, Colorado had 6 but lightning had 7 on the ice, he has to put his foot in his mouth today at the press conference
* Darcy Kuemper became the first goaltender in NHL history with an overtime assist in a Stanley Cup Final game and the fourth in any playoff contest, following Pekka Rinne (Game 6 of 2016 R2 w/ NSH), Tuukka Rask (Game 4 of 2010 CQF w/ BOS) and Dominik Hasek (Game 3 of 2002 CF w/ DET). Go Avs!!! Colombia 🇨🇴!!!!!
Gotta be the first Stanley cup final where speed dominates over defense and hard hits. The Avs really excel at sustained, continual extended high tempo play, not just a quick play then a slow down and then another quick play.
Tampa now 1 for 25 on the power play in this series. You're not going to win a finals with those kind of numbers. No matter how good you are. Tampa's Big Cat in goal kept them in the game tonight.
@h d and it's not just a failure on offense. The Kill unit for Tampa has been awful. The Avs have scored on 43% of their power plays in this series. It's honestly the difference and I'm not saying Tampa is dead. But it's going to be very tough to win two in Denver. If they keep these numbers up though, Tampa can look back and see what cost them the CUP.
Are you sure that was the only reason? Yes, a teams skill and ability to capitalize on opportunities does matter. But I will always be hesitant to call a game/sport "fair" when we know through science that athletes native to high altitudes will have a performance advantage of those who are not. It honestly makes me uneasy about these situations especially sports that are incredibly endurance based. "As elite athletes acclimate to high altitude, they acquire more red blood cells which allows their blood to carry more oxygen. When they compete at lower altitudes, they get a natural boost to the muscles when additional oxygen is available." It takes investment to learn a skill. It takes endurance to perform that skill over a long period of time. More endurance=more skill performance. less endurance=less skill performance. Don't really care who wins; just stating what I have observed over the years; and what seems to be what is happening here. I'm doubtful that one team is more conditioned than another at the most elite level in their sport. Why did the Av's look like they were running on full cylinders in OT while the bolts were dead tired. Just a thought.
@Max79 If Avs didn't have to skate on that garbage slush ice it would have been a Avs Blowout like it will be Friday game n Denver. Those old dude's on Bolt's are threw
@Max79 Av's stopped playing after game 2 until overtime in game 4, and still got a split against your unbeatable team, so what's your point? Av's can't win at home? Or one of 2?
Avs finally found a way to win these games. OMG took them a couple heartaches. Nazim the guy you wanted on that 1 on 1. Get ready to pass that Cup on Friday.
They won 7 to 0 without ot, ur not wise about shite, have you been watching ,Colorodo is faster, stronger, and younger than Tampa. Vasy is keeping you guys in the game without him ur screwed
@Sheriff Woody not what I think, what my bolts players think!!!! See the difference? Bruh guarantee you this the only way Avs win is OT and if not, Tampa Bay wins. Period! Only reason why Avs shut us out was because we were allowing y’all one free win to have a bigger hope for us to make this series more interesting
@aceir11 Avs started playing better after bolts making too many mistakes. Avs fans can’t admit that there were lucky because bolts quit playing after our players scored. Avs can’t even own Bolts
Colorado is an ot killer.. ot is when they come to life... and their speed and tenacity on offense this series has been unmatched. Kemper played his azz off this game kudos to him. Home rink advantage... time to crown a new champ let's goooooo
Kadri has beaten Vas in OT 👏🏻 on Tampa’s garbage ice. Well done avs 👌🏻 . commentators can’t get Vas out of their mouths that’s all they talk about just awful, Kadri scores the game winning goal… silence 😂
I don't listen to the TV telecast... Can't stand it. I watch the games with Altitude Sports radio on to hear our guys call the game. This highlight clip was the first I heard the awful commentators... and you are correct!
For those of you still confused....Rule 9.6 : When a goaltender has lost his helmet and/or face mask and the opposing team has control of the puck, play shall only be stopped if there is no immediate and impending scoring opportunity.
What a strange ending. All sound and fury from the speed of the Lanche the entire period and then, nothing. When Vas didn't produce a puck after the Kadri shot, where the hell did the refs think the puck went?? Bad job there.
This was a good game. Ion really watch hockey since my Chicago black hawks fell off but man this is a interesting series. Colarado better know Tampa bay ain’t going away so they need to close it out at home. Don’t wanna go back to Tampa regardless if you got the lead or not
The GW goal reminded me a lot of the OT goal scored by Patrick Kane to win the Cup vs Philly in game 6 of 2010. The home team lost that game too. I guess this one isn't AS BAD because the Lightning are still alive but it sure FEELS the same.
Sour Grapes of Wrath from Jon Cooper on OT winning goal. Bolts lost. Man Up Jon Crier. What goes around comes around : If you remember, the New York Islanders lost Game 7 of the 2021 Semi-Finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning on a shorthanded tally. The replay showed that the Lightning had not six, but seven players on the rink at the time of their goal.
Colorado needs to go ahead and close this out on Friday and send the lightning packing back to Florida. I'm sure Gary will be disappointed if his favorite team doesn't make it 3 in a row. So let's go Avalanche and get that cup
Big shout out to the Avs fan in the Nordiques jersey who reacted IMMEDIATELY to the Kadri goal, and allowed me to realize before everyone else I was watching with, that the Puck was in.
Notice no one mentioned too many men. The Tampa bench didn’t appear to react as if they thought it was too many men, though there was just a quick look as Kadri started his rush.
Bruh this Avalanche team is no joke! They shown time and time again why they are the best team this year, what a win for them on the road, now they get to close it out at home what better feeling then potentially winning the Stanley Cup on home ice! Go Avs!
I am a die-hard Lightning fan, but you have got to respect the Avalanche. They have played a fantastic series so far! I’d love to see this go into game 6 or possibly game 7. How cool would it be to go into OT in Game 7??? Would be so exciting!!
@Logan Crawford Fla were president trophy winners so history will tell you they'll lose more often than not. It's been 9 years since a team won both trophies. Leafs haven't won a playoff series since 2004 and NYR beat an injured canes team on their 3rd string goalie. TB is good however It's a series of fortunate events for TB.To make the cup. Your point is invalid
@*StopDroolin avs are a great team im not saying their bad by any stretch of the imagination. but tampa definitely deserves to be in the stanley cup and there is no denying that
@NotFrom ThisWorld what do you mean I'm suggesting it looked like the Avs where on a power play the entire overtime....... other than the couple quick chances Tampa had it was all AVS..... 1W!!!!!!!
@TommyC503 all I've got now? You act like I'm apart of the Tampa Bay lightning organization? They aren't even my favorite team.... but I know they are better org than the avalanche. I would laugh so hard if Colorado chocked this series, I even said avalanche prbly win in the regular season. But damn would be sweet to see a three peat in this fashion of a chokerado back to back blow after the cockyness of some of these fans almost winning a cup to thinking they are the best organization in the league. Some of the looks on the fans though at the arena last night after the loss 😂, literally up 3-2 in a series and heads down... They know this is most likely going to game 7 now.
@TommyC503 lol haters gunna hate of course you would since dude is the greatest QB of all time. He probably gets his 8th this year just because of the ignorant hating of the haters, and you wishing injury to a player of a sport because he is the best and you aren't anything. big yikers...
Can't wait for the 'Tampa fans acting like they won the cup after wining the one game' comment. "The ice is garbage" was golden. Ignorant Tampa fans are back to reality. The silence was GOLDEN can't wait to see the cup on home ice.
@Yancy Jenkins Sr ummm seeing how they play on ice I would think it's very relevant. Exhibit #1 to Tampa fans being insufferable and just flat out ignorant. Bet you giggled when then drunk went after Canadians fans celebrating their one game win in the finals last year.
u could see Tampa wearing out now u can say there done they gave it there all for 6 periods and even made the Ice shitty to give them an advantage...but game 5 is the Avs..can't wait
@Kevin B my wife played hockey and she said the ice looks terrible like it's being melted on purpose and even Kadri in an intermission interview called it garbage ice ...and our local radio even said Tampa purposely did this with the ice to slow the avs down
Colorado is going to keep the ice cold and fast for game 5. Fast ice, and 17% less oxygen for Tampa players translates to a game 5 win, and the Cup back in CO.
@KyleAroundTheWorld so last year 16 mil or what ever they where over the cap was fair? There is no fair in life everyone has there advantages and disadvantages.
@KyleAroundTheWorld Not admitting anything more than Tampa admitting to how humidity affects CO players, and how keeping the ice slushy to slow the Avs down is a cheap shot. Just be happy that the Av's don't train in Leadville, CO.
It’s not happening on Sunday, if they win on Friday they will have it on Monday or Tuesday. Not Sunday due to the pride fest. It’s simple logistics… Plus most championship parades are traditionally held during weekdays for most part.
Couldn't have been a tighter game, well played on both sides. Only complaints was some BAD missed calls on both sides. Like how blind were the refs? Didn't even see the game winning goal?! Come on! I will say though. Avs DOMINATED that OT. Props to vassy on the net. Well played boltz, and WELCOME BACK KADRI!!!
