It is so sad that there are a lot of animals out there that have had so much pain in their lives. I’m glad that there are people who have a good heart to take those kind of pets into their homes. Great job kids.

The dog not even being able to take all four of her paws out of the kennel is one of the saddest things I've seen. It's such a sign of anxiety about exploring its environment outside of the cage, and wanting to keep at least one foot in a spot where it knows its safe. Can't imagine what she went through before this.

Seeing the heartbreaking eyes on this pup is just another reminder they feel just like us! She was abused and abandoned and most likely still loved her humans that hurt her! I'm so glad you understood she needed time for her heart to heal! There's no bad dogs!❤

My favorite line was "We couldn't be looking at her, so we did that for a few days". Such kind and understanding humans.

This is a good example of why you're not always going to have that instant connection that many people are looking for when they want to adopt. Some dogs are not going to be able to show you their personalities until they feel comfortable with you.

What a wonderful story about the healing of Maven!! This loving, patience, and compassionate couple was a God-send to this sadly abused dog. Worse type of people who harm, abuse, or neglect a defenseless animal!! Such a tear jerking story, but thankfully, a happy ending. I have enough fur babies in my home now right now, but makes me want to run to my local shelter and adopt a hurting dog or cat!!

This is so true. One of our rescues was terrified for the first month or so. Her backstory is that she was left in a crate 24/7 then was sent to a rescue at 3 years old. She is now the most confident, loving dog. Wags her tail constantly. There is so much joy and she gives just as much if not much more than we give her. It is one of the best feelings in the world to rehab an animal and give them a loving environment where they can thrive. Bravo to this couple!

My rescue dog had severe trauma and anxiety. He hid under & behind the couch for hours/days when we first rescued him. It took a lot of time and patience to get him comfortable. Now he’s the best dog.

It's so worth it! We rescued a dog that had been abused that was not only afraid, she was also aggressive. Bad people made her that way but we fixed her. It took a lot of patience, a lot of time and effort and a few trips to Urgent Care with bite wounds but the reward is having a wonderful dog whose life we know we saved. She was destined to be put down when we found her, but not anymore.

This video made me think about the other Dodo video where the dog was returned after 2 days of being adopted and I’m getting mad all over again. Because in what world would a shelter dog, or any dog in a new environment, be well-adjusted in 48hrs (yes some do but that’s an ambitious and rigid timeline). Dogs have feelings too and they need time. So glad Mavyn got that space to adjust ✨

How could anyone with a heart and soul ever abuse an animal?

my boy took about a year after I adopted him and then I saw who he is. his true character. hes always been my beautiful boy. but now 6 years down the line, not sure how I did life without him.

This is just like the story of my rescue dog. She was a puppy and came from an abusive situation. I saw her picture posted on Facebook from the pounds website and I absolutely fell in love and I could tell she was an Australian Shepherd even though they had her listed as a border collie. But Living with my aunt for 10 years and she had five Australian Shepherd so I knew what she was. Her foster mom worked at the pound and she never actually stayed at the pound because her foster mom knew that she wouldn’t make it if she stayed there. And the minute I met her at the pound I just sat on the ground and she came to me. And I put on my hand for her to smell me and she just laid on the floor next to me and let me pet her. We did this for about 20 minutes before I brought in my grandma in my four year old for them to meet her. And my grandma knew that I wanted her and she said go ahead. I filled out all the paperwork in about a week later it was approved. I went and picked her up from the foster mother‘s house and she was definitely very scared. And once we brought her home she was very scared she was hiding in corners. That was in October. She’s a completely different dog now. She runs around and plays with my four-year-old Without a care in the world. She however does not like it when other people enter the home and I don’t know how to break her of that. My grandma has another dog which is a Shih Tzu and she’s old and she tries to play with her but it’s kind of hard. I wish I could get another dog like a younger playmate for her but at the time it’s too hard to bring in another one. She still scared of balls but she plays with her toys which she never used to do. She won’t play with her toys with us we are still working on that. But it’s funny because with my daughters she will play tug-of-war with blankets lol. And her puppy phase is definitely come out in full force because we often come home to things destroyed if we accidentally missed some thing and left something out such as a toy or a shoe. People say that we rescued her but she rescued me. So adopt don’t shop.❤
