It really annoys me how this lost to Anti-Hero. Before anyone comes at me, I don’t have anything against Taylor swift just to clarify, it’s just that Melanie needs a lot more rewards for her amazing work like- LOOK AT THESE SPECIAL EFFCTS AND CHOREOGRAPHY AND LITERALLY EVERYTHING. ITS AMAZING! And in MY OPINION, Taylor has gotten a lot of rewards and i think it’s finally time to at least give other artists a chance like Melanie. How tf did this lose to Anti-Hero

Its always been hard for me to understand why people hate this album. Or even her new Era to say- because Melanie is finally happier. Her thoughts, ideals and lifestyle changed from Crybaby. For christs sake Crybaby came out in 2015!! Shes almost 30 yall, and shes way happier than shes ever been. I respect opinions and stuff but you guys cannot be throwing around “I miss the old mel” when she was literally so unhappy. You arent Melanie Marteniz, shes a whimsical creator and makes amazing content like this to share it with the world to heal. If you don’t like it youre obviously still on a stage of hurting or non-acceptance of yourself because this album is so healing to people that struggle with these issues but are overcoming them. Thats what Portals is about, healing, rebirth and moving on. And thats the prettiest most beautiful concept an album could ever have. yall mad fr

When first watching this, I thought it was a weird way to visually represent the meaning behind void, rebirth by escaping depression and anxiety and an old version of yourself, but when you rewatch it you notice all the little hidden details and symbolism that Melanie uses to express herself. In the first scene, Crybaby, or Melanie, pushes herself out of a heart, and becomes a new creature, both showing the rebirth of Crybaby as a new creature, and how Melanie is letting go of an old version of herself. She then enters a door while looking behind her, making sure she's not being followed, and runs into the Void where she is chased by herself, or at least creatures that look similar to her. She then goes into another room where I can only assume she's watching herself incubate, and appears to be judging herself before she's even a new person. The creatures then hatch and just menacingly watch as she crawls away and falls into a new room full of bugs. In the room there is what looks like a window where you can see a bright star, and because we know Melanie likes to put tarot card references in her music videos, when you look up what the star means it says that upright it can mean faith and hope, but reversed can mean insecurity, discouragement, and faithlessness. The bugs in the room represent her insecurities and she takes a sword to one of the bugs and it flowers grow out of the bugs wound, which could represent the card being turned upright by letting go of insecurities and discouragement, and having faith and hope for a new beginning. She then falls through a tunnel, and somehow has a g-n, a sh00t5 herself and moths come out of her, and moths can represent change, transformation, endings, and death. She then falls out of a tower and the video end, but the tower is symbolic as well, the Tower Tarot Card upright represents disruption, change of life, and awakening, showing that she has completely left her old self behind, and is ready for a new life. That's just what I could interpret from the music video, but art is for the viewers to interpret however they'd like to, so I'd like to hear what other people think!

A small detail I noticed is that when the Creature is being chased by the big eye, the pupil of it keeps getting big then small over and over again. According to google “When we are stressed, the sympathetic spurs initiated with ‘struggle or escape’ stimulus dilate the pupil” Which makes perfect sense since Mel is trying to escape the void. The amount of effort and detail that Mel puts into her work is just amazing. Amazing work Melanie! This is just absolutely beautiful!💗💗💗

This is my favorite song by Melanie since I feel identified with the lyrics due to my anxiety problems, I feel like she hears my thoughts when I have an attack when I listen the lyrics, I have known Melanie's songs for quite some time but in those years I was not a fan even though I listened to many of her songs, a while ago I became a fan, My dream is to go to one of their concerts, although I am not sure it is possible since I am Latin American and I cannot travel to another country to go to a concert, plane tickets are expensive, My knowledge of the language is limited, the concert tickets must probably be expensive, I am afraid to leave the house and I have a lot of academic pressure from school that takes up all my time.

Absolutely love how this mv came out. Melanie is so creative and I’m super happy for her that she was able to create this song on her own, as she is becoming her true artist. And the choreography was amazing. I really enjoy this song as it helps many people struggling with anxiety.

All I can say, is that Melanie can bring literally anything to life! Whether it's a creature/nymph thing that you probably never would've imagined to exist before this era came along, to straight up anxiety! All via music, visuals, and probably even more! After seeing the music videos for DEATH and VOID, I don't think I'll ever say that these videos are horrible. I feel like Melanie could make a song about a rock falling onto a table and it would still sound interesting. I respect Melanie a lot for everything she does.
