Sorry..... I've seen many of your videos, and been quite baffled by your craftmanship. But these ovens kinda killed it. That's not craftmanship. I don't like'em. (btw, you made me play VWOC. :) ) You got me hooked with the Vikingsword, my good, a masterpiece. But I think your getting too much into machines, doing your work for you. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how I feel. I'll check out some more videoes, but I'm pretty sure you lost me. ;(

Seen a few of your videos. Always have enjoyed them. I was wondering what the net costs of your equipment, forges, kilns etc? You have so many cool things in your shop.

Those cut edges make no sense to me. You would think having a sharp corner like that would make the blade extremely weak.

What would a claymore or zweihander-sword breaker hybrid be like?
MOONMAN736
MOONMAN736 27 dias atrás
Useless. The point of a swordbreaker is to quickly snag the opponents sword, disarming them, to run them through with your own sword. Claymores defeat the purpose.

Random question: Wha haven't the flags been properly steamed & ironed to remove all of the creases to allow them to hang cleanly? Videography and shot-setup with all that effort put-in, but the background has unhappy flags. :-(

how has no one mentioned too alec an easier way of forging billets by welding on a long metal rod which he can grip with both hands without burning himself which gives him more control when forging billets?
Random Guy
Random Guy Mês atrás
TheStormCraft steel transfers heat well. Even if he had a 2 foot handle, after a few heats it would be too hot to handle and control with normal gloves. He has been smithing since he was a kid, I bet he probably has more control with those tongs than I do over my soup spoon.

I've got a genuine question : we can see that you lost a lost of matter when you forge the steel (all the scales). Does this scales are reusable in any form? Or are they lost for real?
jöönu
jöönu 2 meses atrás
Akashan those scales are iron oxyde so completely unusable for smithing. You can turn it back into iron tho using for example a thermite reaction.

I've been hearing a lot of sneezing lately. They could be harmless allergy sneezes, but when you start doing simultaneous sneezing, the FF-EMT in me starts ringing bells and waving flags... (hope they read comments on "old" videos, sorry, I'm binge catching up from a 2 month hiatus) Sneezing can also be caused by the tingling sensation that is caused by certain gasses. CO2 is one of those gasses that is also produced in your workshop. I know you're a man of safety, and you guys usually work with open gates, but it might be a good idea to add some gas sensors on a few strategic points in the shop. Monitor the levels of 02, CO2 and CO, but maybe some other ones like NOX too. If by chance you both are experiencing headaches too, on days that you have team sneezing sessions, then most definitely look into this... Your forge is producing a whole lot of CO2, CO and probably nox too. Since you want to keep the heat in place, you're not using any close ventilation, but putting a mild overpressure on your shop and venting from the roof will keep the bad gasses away from where you physically are in the shop. Even with an open gate, you can easily create that overpressure with the right floor fan at the right distance from your gate outside (ask your local firemen how to choose and position said fan, the cone of moving air basically has to cover the entire open surface of your gate)

@Maulik Barot thanks for reading all the way through :) No effort is too great to keep my favorite youtubers alive and well and popping out great content. And as many firefighters will agree, it's a mechanism once engaged, there's no "off" switch...
