@Kacper Suski he wrote wrong. On standard Croatian: pijesak = sand in kajkavian dialect pesek can mean sand or little puppy, pes (pas on standard croatian) = dog so little dog is pesek.

How can you honestly believe Slavic speaking peoples in the Balkans are the same as Slavic speaking peoples in Russia or Poland?? Slavs have assimilated and absorbed huge numbers of peoples from other backgrounds, for example Balts and others. Only around 40-50% of Slavs are believed to be R1a, there's huge levels of other genetic backgrounds among modern Slavic populations.

Yes, Polish has nasal vowels and two kinds of both /sh/, /zh/, & /ch/. English speakers often have a hard time hearing/differentiating them.

Unfortunately it is because they were using basic vocabulary but a regular conversation would be imposible (I speak Polish and I do not understand Macedonian most of the time at all)

Ivan Degtyarenko and me as a Macedonian i understand Russian VERY well!!! Much more than Polish. The Polish pronunciation is very hard but when i read it, it’s more understandable.

Example barabar (cro) = varvar (srb). Oyster mushroom is "bukovača" on croatian cause you find it on tree named "bukva"

In croatian mushroom is gljiva, pečurka is one type of mushroom. But also we use same word for all fungi gljive or gljivice. For example "Gljivice na noktima" (nail fungs).

I will write you a comment in the Styrian dialect of the Slovenian language, that is a mixture of Slavic language (mostly Slovenian) and German, but the grammar is Slavic. Ja slovanske šprahe so vse glih, nekatere je kr dokaj ainfoh razumet, včasih nucaš malo več cajta, da spogruntaš kaj je blo mišleno, ampak ful dost se da zastopit. German words in the comment were: ja (ja), die Sprache (šprahe), gleich (glih), einfach (ainfoh), nutzen (nucaš), die Zeit (cajt), gründen (pogruntaš), voll (ful). Translation: Yes, Slavic languages are very similar, some are relatively easy to understand, sometimes you need a little more time to understand the meaning, but a lot is understandable.

"Djakue" is common word for west and east slavonic languages, means "help you with doing". It has common roots with such Russian words as Delati Делать, Dejati Деять - Do. Germans got and transformed this word to "Danke", English - Thanke (Thank you). One good example else about the word "Work" in German - ARbeit, in slavonic - RAbota. ARbeit came from Slavonic to German but not the contrary.

Dzienkuje related to danke? I hear this first time. In Czech it's děkuji or děkuju, I don't hear danke there, but it's possible because only west slavs have such words for thank you
