The youtube notification "cello and violin". It did not say Beethoven. I'm glad it didn't because if it had, I wouldn't have clicked. I'm so surprised that I like something by Beethoven. There are many people who don't like Beethoven. Why do you immediately assume racism?

Barenboim's original name was Birnbaum, but he didn't think that sounded Jewish enough, so he changed it to Barenboim. He then saw that conductors were making far more money than pianists so he switched careers. His early conducting efforts were comical, at best, but more often disastrous as orchestras fell apart on stage under his rag tag "conducting." Don't think that the lofty world of classical music isn't overflowing with greed, it is overflowing with greed.

The great tragedy is that Beethoven only composed a single violin concerto. It was not well received initially and then not until after his death. It is one of the most beautiful pieces of music every created, and Perlman plays effortlessly and with infectious joy. If I only had one piece of classical music to listen to, this would be it.

Music doesn't get greater than this. It's one of those all-time gems, which in the hands of Perlman, Barenboim and the Berlin Philharmonic attains perfection. By that I mean 10/10. Or, to put it more clearly, 100/100. An extremely rare thing indeed.
