This is fascinating! I'm Korean and I speak croatian and understand some slovene. Funny thing is, not only I have almost no problem understanding Interslavic but also I have impression that I understand interslavic even better than croatian spoken by many croatians (especially people speaking their dialects)! Native speakers always develop quite specific way of speaking the language. They speak fast, they don't necessarily articulate and use slangs, jargons and dialects. I think Interslavic can put everyone on the equal ground, slavic language speakers as well as foreign learners. I will never speak croatian like a croatian, but I think, with proper learning of course, I could manage speaking Interslavic as well as any other interslavic speakers! I imagine one day I will be able to visit all these diverse slavic countries and communicate in Interslavic with everybody without help of English, that would be amazing!

I talked like that when I was vacationing in Croatia and wanted to communicate with the locals. A little Polish, a little Russian, a little Ukrainian and Czech, and by the end came out the same language as this gentleman created 😁

I am Macedonian and it is so surprising to me how easy it is to understand him speaking interslavic. The sentence structure is seems to be identical to the Macedonian language. What pleasant surprise. 😊

It's a kind of magic. As a Bulgarian i understand well above 90% of the interslavic speech. Even though Bulgarian has always been the odd one in the slavic family. 😝

I read the comments and I'm really fascinated! I thought Interslavic was so understandable to me because I am Czech as well as the founder of the language. And here I see that is not true. Many of you write that they understand more than 90% of the speech, regardless of whether they are from Russia, Macedonia, Poland, etc ... it's amazing!

Finally a comment section where I see slavs coming together instead of arguing. I kinda feel happy.

I am from Canada, but of Slovak (Bratislava) and Polish (Tarnopol) heritage. I think this brilliant language is LONG OVERDUE! It needs to be taught in ALL schools in ALL Slavic-speaking nations. Without a mutually intelligible common Slavic language, there can never be true Slavic unity. Well done to the creators, and to Ecolinguist for bringing this into the mainstream. How can I learn Interslavic ?? As you can see, I can only speak English, but I wish I could communicate with all of you using a common Slavic language. Red, White, Blue, and Yellow !! :)

The Belarusian understood ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. Knowing Belarusian, Ukrainian and Russian, you understand many Slavic languages very well. And the inter-Slavic language - even more so. The author of this language needs to erect a monument, because everyone understands it - Eastern, Western and Southern Slavs. Старославянский язык - наше всё! Кириллу и Мефодию спасибо :)

I'm Croatian, speaking the kajkavian dialect, and if I would not have known that's interslavic, I would have thought this is based on kajkavian. Would love to learn it and to speak with people from Sofia over Warsaw and Lviv to Wladiwostok!

I'm Russian, I'm also a programmer and mathematician and also interested in Slavic languages. And my wish is that all Slavic people will be free again ans never fight each other anymore. And this idea of interslavic language can really help! I will look forward for helping it with what I can.

I'm from Slovakia and that language is almost like czech and slovakian people understand czech people without any problems so this was kinda easy to understand and this language is really interesting, I never heard about that language and as I said it is easy to understand and as I listened there were words like mnogo and it is the same as russian so really interesting language, I really like it and it is even easier than polish to understand.

This really is amazing, as a Polish native speaker with intermediate level of Russian I can understand nearly 100% of what he is saying. Of course subtitles help a bit. Now what I think most Polish speakers wouldn't recognise: "gledat" - I didn't recognise it and can't think of anything even vaguely related in Polish. A Slovak friend told me it's "to look for" (... yes, I know the problem with Polish "to look for" 😉). Then umetny, which seems to be "sztuczny" (artificial). "Selo" (village) - I got this one but it was probably because it's from Russian, without having learnt some Russian a Polish person may not recognise it. Although there is an adjective "sielski" (bucolic), a rather lofty word but many would still use in spoken Polish, and even "sioło", an old fashion word for a village one would find only in literature. "Zvuk" (language?). I only got it through context when it was repeated several times. It is related to zwać, an old fashioned PL word for "to call, to name", but it's too distant to be recognisible, I think. "Vremeni" (time), Russian again, nothing similar in PL. "Hudožstvo" (art), "putovat" (to travel) - same thing. "Letak" - what is it? Honestly, I still don't know. "Izkljucenia" (exceptions?) - Russian. Polish word "wykluczenie" is close, but it means "exclusion", so a Polish speaker would likely not recognise it. "Beseda" (conversation) - in Polish "biesiada" means a feast, so it would be the first false friend between Polish and Interslavonic😅.

wow, this is amazing that so many people really understand it, yet relate it most to a variety of different languages! I am Slovenian and I understood 95%. To me it sounds like Croatian or Serbian spoken by a Czech ..but then Bam! a pure Slovenian word hits unexpectedly! :-) Love it!

I have shown the video to my father (naitive croatian speaker). He was absolutely amazed with how easy it is to understand this language. He said it sounds like some croatian dialect, and it is even easier to understand than some croatian dialects, such as Bednja dialect. He said he could probably master this language in a year (and he is not even a linguist) :))))

This is insanely inspirational language, we definitely need to study it at school as a second language, imagine this language being as universal as english! Russian, 99% understood, even without dubs.
