I think self discipline is way important. you just have to do it...with motivation or without, just because you took a decision and you must stick to it.

"The fear induces inaction while the thrill of the gains induces action. If we want motivate change or progress we might want to think about the above on how we want to do it". No solution fits all, but this gave a good insight as to deciding the best strategy when dealing with individuals. It's also true that people like to be in control therefore social insentives, motivators and progress monitoring are great tools to use to give them the control while motivating change and progress.

I learned their young alive I had to be my own advocate I had no one to turn to that I could trust I had no mentor but just know at 5 years of age being abandoned and raised in an orphanage you learn to be your own advocate you learn to speak up for yourself because nobody else will and that is your motivation that's where your strength comes from within your own self no damn speech no doctor no nothing unless you really manly shot out you have the power in yourself did they the motivator thank you and have a good day

Social incentives: Associate with people that we like to emulate. Avoid those are likely driving us down. Now that makes sense - it is who you know and you are your friends!

This is what we need just right about now. With the news about the pandemic and global warming. We are being fed with negative feedbacks about the disease and the fires and the ice. I am not saying that the earth is flat and the moonwalk is fake. It's just that having positive feedbacks should also be heard and acknowledged because as the speaker said, it is what makes the people act and action is what we need right now. Give love. Share love. You are loved.

This focus on the ego is a major flaw in her hypothesis. A depressed person generally develops bad habits. These people, myself included, generally do not see themselves in any narcissistic manner. These people, myself included, do in fact seek out and listen to people and text that they disagree with. Like Tari Sharot. Not everyone is an optimist. Otherwise great. Thank you for presenting the social studies. The "bad news curve" was especially interesting.

So what are some EX: of Social incentive, Progress monitoring, Immediate Reward for weight loss? I'm the only one here on this battle so there's no Social incentive, I would love some other ideas of Progress monitoring besides the scale that goes up & the pics I hate or the clothes that still fit, also I have no way the give myself Immediate rewards.
shrutkirti saklani
shrutkirti saklani Mês atrás
it depends on how your achieving that weight loss... for example if your actively working out and eating comparatively healthier then in that case keep a check on your emotions, do u feel happier, more active, energetic cuz i guess its a fact that staying active and consuming healthier food has a positive effect on ones behavioural and emotional aspect (u can take this as immediate reward and progress monitoring). As for social incentive... for the days u feel like skipping or slacking back, think about how this will give hinder u from achieving your goal faster, imagine the other people who are on step ahead of you as they choose not to give up. You got this!!

thanks for this video. I was motivated so much. I was very upset about my future, like I don't know where to go, what am I going to do to improve myself. in fact, I tried to quit smoking and do exercises so many times but I failed. after watching this video, I realized that I am doing the wrong way, trying to do something without progress monitoring and immediate rewards. I will get myself up and try again, Thomas Edison said: 'Our greatest weakness lies on giving up. The most certain way to success is to try just one more time.' Thanks for motivating me. I love this video.

I know it's been six years since this video was posted and I'm amazed at how up to date this information is! Lately, I have been using positive remarks, giving out short term and long term rewards to my nieces. They love it! They are six and eight years old, whenever they are doing something safe or dangerous I always say 'Hey! let's try something more fun! Later/tomorrow frozen yoghurt and gummy bears afterwards' I love being with them, with my sister though they are a bit different because she spoils them and gives them everything they want at the very moment just to keep them to stay still or stay quiet. I believe that we can learn a lot from children and from mid-twenties adults. Great content!

while the method of association to positive thoughts or rewards is great and promising , the motivation based on threat must not be overlooked . because i think the fear of losing the job or your driving license or family in alcoholics might be more effective than the positive association to look better or have good health . i am not in any way opposing what she suggest , but i think threat association might be more effective in people with second stage declination .
