@Hakeem Lecco The steps are theatres, DVD/Blu-ray, TV. The worse the movie, the more steps it skips. Going straight to audio means it's so bad, it's not even worth seeing at all....not even on TV.

@Hakeem Lecco it’s a reference to the movie making process and the fact that both during and after the process, there’s a screening process in which studio executives decide how much funding to throw in to ad campaigns and how many copies to make to distribute to theaters. In the 90’s and 2000’s, it wasn’t so uncommon that a movie would get made, the studio would realize it was a complete garbage, and decide that instead of scheduling extremely costly reshoots or risking throwing millions of dollars in to marketing campaigns, they should just completely cancel the theatrical release, write it off as a total loss, then put it directly to VHS/DVD and see it they could recoup a few dollars. Theatrical runs are where 90% of a films profits are made, so releasing them straight to VHS typically made no sense, unless the film was already written off, or had an extremely low budget. “Straight to Home video” became a stigmatized label associated with extremely poor content or typically cheesy shoes-string budget films (this is part of why movies released on streaming platforms had such a great stigma against them for award considerations until basically the last year or so). He’s basically saying Leno’s film was so bad, it didn’t even qualify for the bottom of the barrel “straight to home video” release.

It's not cringe at all. Larry King went into that interview not knowing that Seinfeld wasn't canceled. The show ended because Seinfeld didn't want to do it anymore and when it finished, it was still #1. Any good interviewer would have done basic research or had their staff research the show because that's some seriously baseline information about the show. Jerry just called him out on being completely unprepared and clueless, which let's face it he was.

@34stzoo I never find the straight man character funny especially if you're also supposed to be the funny man. In fact, I can't recall any other show that does it. Jerry is always the winner and joke is usually almost always on someone else. In fact George and Elaine I think are much funnier than Jerry at every point. It's because they have flaws, Jerry seemingly has none and that just creates significantly less funny character. Also what's wrong with Jerry Seinfield's ego?
