From where they drafted him it was a low risk high reward pick. Why not take a chance on him no rush. They knew what they were signing up for. If he works out great if he doesnt he doesnt. The only thing lost would be a coaching staff job. Imo hell be fine in due time.

Idk, every guy coming in the league has “flashes”. It looked like he had zero control of the pocket. Scrambled right away on like every play. He’s got a lot of work. He also looks like a running back out there.

No time for that, Henry need to load up and win this year

Literally his first play he should have dumped it off quicker. I love that he got to a roll out quick. Gotta snap it. He had that problem in college actually. This guy broke down his film ALOT. Kinda doesn’t throw to open receivers in the flat on outside for some reason.
Dallas Wood

He’s definitely waiting for those receivers to be “college ball open” to pull the trigger that rarely happens in the nfl

Not a Titans fan but you gotta love seeing Willis putting up some extra muscle weight in just one off-season. He looks so much bigger then he did coming out of college in just a few months IMO. That’s a good sign, he’s showing he’s dedicated and committed. If he can develop properly the Titans will have one heck of a play-action power run scheme. I’m more excited to watch Matt Corral tho, now I think he’s got some next level elite traits.

You're kidding right? Against a 1st team defense he would have never been in the position to "show flashes" because they'd be going the other way with the ball.

I like what I saw from Willis. He wasn't super efficient and didn't always make the best play, but you can just tell the talent is there with the plays he made. He scrambled when he needed to and made plays with his feet, and even went outside of the pocket and made throws on the run. I liked the deep throw down the left sideline. He can improve his pocket-presence and decision making, but he has all he needs to become a starter in the next year or two within the NFL.

I don’t think you understand how fast if a learner Willis is. Patrick Mahomes said with his own mouth he never knew or understood how to read defenses until his second year as a starter for the chiefs. And he was torching defenses off of talent alone. Wait until Willis learns how to read blitzes. He’ll dog walk the league.

@Statutory Grape he definitely panicked in the pocket. Couldn’t get past his first read without scrambling. And once he would scramble, it was head down, I’m running. Never tried to look back down field. That’s why he got pulled after his big run on the opening 2nd half drive. Vrabel had told him I’m the locker room to stop running and make throws. He has potential, but he’s nowhere near ready at the moment to go into an NFL regular season game

@Reignman ok 👌🏻
Reignman 3 meses atrás
@Good News The OL doesn't have eyes in the back of their head. He was moving around too much and they didn't know where he was going to be. That's why they prefer blocking for statues because they know where the statue is going to be and therefore know where to block a defender. With a mobile QB, you might block a defender into the path of your QB. Plus you have to block a lot longer because mobile guys hold onto the ball a lot longer, which wears you out quicker.
Good News
Good News 3 meses atrás
@RotaryPerfection I wasn’t blaming the O-line for him holding the ball too long, re-read my post lol. I said it was a combination of both
RotaryPerfection 3 meses atrás
You can't blame the o-line when the QB holds onto the ball longer than he should. He'll need time to adjust and develop his internal time clock.
Dallas Wood
Dallas Wood 3 meses atrás
In the nfl the ball should be out quick also he was scrambling a lot instead of stepping up in the pocket I’ve heard the biggest adjustment in the nfl is what is considered an open receiver compared to college. In college you see them throwing to dudes without a defender within ten yards and that hardly happens on the nfl certainly not often enough to sustain drives down the field

@Carlos Renfroe no, I 100% agree. I didn't go rewatch the play when I was making my point, because my point was that he did go off-script and his fundamentals did break down in order to make the play; he let his talents lead the way. Thanks for rewatching for me, though!
Carlos Renfroe
Carlos Renfroe 3 meses atrás
@Ben Siegal yeah I agree that he stayed within the design of the play and had to make an off-platform throw because the defender was in his face. However the O-Line didn't miss an assignment. The D brought pressure off both edges, The back mostly picked up the Srong side after the play fake. The TE was supposed to chip before he went out to the flat. Number 40 just read it and laid off the chip and almost got to the QB. Heads up play, but a better play by Willis.
Ben Siegal
Ben Siegal 3 meses atrás
@Obi Amajoyi Sr., MD I'm actually laughing so hard. His fundamentals did break down, otherwise, like OP said in his second comment, his feet would've been grounded, his shoulders would've faced his target, etc etc. That's good fundamentals work. Your words: he learned those fundamentals but they don't matter in that situation. EXACTLY!! Meaning it's a *fundamentally broken play* LMAO meaning that his talent took over the situation and he overcame the the brokenness and made a play. Just like OP said. Just like you repeated needlessly. For all of your feigned intelligence (seriously dude do you have a dictionary next to you to make it easier to find big smart -sounding words?), it's funny that you have no idea what a debate is. Because that's what you are doing. Go look it up in your big ass dictionary. Debate. Need I spell it out? Pronounce it? Yknow what's experience I have? Typically people who pretend to know more than everyone are actually insanely insecure and know very little. But that's conjecture, I digress.
Obi Amajoyi Sr., MD
Obi Amajoyi Sr., MD 3 meses atrás
@Ben Siegal Seems like you understood the part and feel like you don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re words not mine. Im not debating anyone, as one side is factual and is based on experience - the other is simply an opinion without the experience required to have an educated opinion. So there is no debate. As I stated, the qbs fundamentals did not break down. Those go out the window if you can successfully make a play. Again, a higher-level concept that I was sharing with you all. If you feel like a debate, that’s on you. But there is no debate for obvious reasons.
Ben Siegal
Ben Siegal 3 meses atrás
@Obi Amajoyi Sr., MD oh no you were perfectly clear in telling me you have no idea what I'm talking about hahaha. The point that OP was making was that every player on that team's fundamentals broke down, meaning M. Willis had to work with his natural talent. Which, ironically, is exactly what you said after him as a "correction" to him. That's funny. I don't think you know how to read, otherwise, you would've understood his comment was the same as yours, but nicer. And, matter of fact, you would've understood all of my ensuing comments too... That's the funny part to me, is you're arguing with someone who is literally agreeing with you. But you're more concerned in mansplaining it 1000 more times. So go ahead, do it again. Prove me 100% right. Argue my point back to me, Star Debater
