Matt, just to let you know there are some of us who find 100% of your content interesting. You’re doing things I’ve never done in my life so explaining your situation and introducing your crew and their role is a bonus … at least for me nothing you do is _boring!_

Such an interesting story, can't wait to see how it pans out. Ed definitely adds significant value to your channel, not just with this story, but all the time! Love the whole crew. Paul and Fab Rats is my other favorite and when you two are together, they are some of the best videos.

I think he spent a lot of time there. You spend enough time in the same "wilderness", it becomes like home, you just recognize places and things.

This little expedition video puts Ed in proper perspective. He is not just the weatherman, he has been living that weather for longer most of us ever will, and he still is. This is ace, thumbs up for ole Ed and respect. 👍

ed's like my granpa. spent over 60 years in the deserts of socal, mining gold, silver and dolimate, as well as being a fulltime pipe welder and commercial blaster up until he was 82 and got a stroke while he was walking his dog.

I watched the 2 recovery episodes before this one, and what a perspective seeing them in that order. Brought a tear to my eye. What an amazing gift to an amazing man. Well done Matt, Paul, and everyone involved. When I first started watching 2+ years ago, I kinda went, "What's up with the old guy?" Then I came to enjoy & appreciate him more and more. This episode moved Ed firmly into " F'in LEGEND" position, and I think I finally really & truly appreciate why Matt has always had him around. Ed is a treasure. And an 84 year old stud, hiking into the forest with a cane! I'm now looking forward to Paul & Fab Rats restoration series on the LJ. And I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing Ed drive it again.

You said it all right there! Thank you for sharing a comment that is constructive and in my opinion has tremendous value! To be able to look in a comment section and be positively inspired and feel good about something I’ve read is very rare in this misinformation age, it’s no longer the Information Age we’re now dead in the center of this new era I like to call the misinformation age. It’s kind if like pine tree perfume, now that you’ve pinpointed the problem step 2 is it getting it off. Stay happy people and keep taxi cab air fresheners where they belong, in the taxi! Very few will understand my comment but for those that do I hope you got a chuckle ☮️💟☮️💟

Yes Alex your right you can learn a lot if you sit down shut up and let them talk a lot of people dont want to hear nothing and old person has to say but they are so wrong I could listen all day every day they didnt get that old by being stupid I value every piece of info they tell me
TheOReport1994 2 meses atrás
Yes! I regret not knowing a lot about my grandparents who've passed on. I was always too young (but not uninterested in their lives, I just didn't know the types of things I wanted to ask them), but then when I got old enough to ask them questions, they were already too old and on their way out. Sometimes you want to know the stupid questions, like 'What was their favourite colour", but then other days you really want to know what they think of things, like did they ever imagine computers would a normal occurrence now. We definitely need more of Ed's stories!

@RollinRat Wow, really sounds like you must be living in a shithole huh? Yet some states still don’t have fresh water, other state entire power grid fails when it gets too cold, another state gets hit by a devastating hurricane every couple of year, some states are in the middle of the desert and heat with horrible weather. If California is so bad, then put your money where you mouth is, and go live in Vegas, Nevada with the rest of those idiots. You realize we have the highest population by far of all states right? Maybe that’s going to answer some of your questions. Or you can be ignorant
RollinRat 2 meses atrás
@Hu B I'll merely state well known facts here. You're free to believe whatever you want. What should I be grateful for? Ive been a good tax paying citizen in Wackofornia for 47 of my 60 years. ALL my years living in this 'state'. Ive worked hard since I was a young teen. I have good hard work ethics instilled by my family. Ive worked hard with my own hands all my life, since I was a child. I do my part as a citizen and contribute to the system rather than take from it. Ive paid more than my fair share most of my life. I'm grateful for my wonderful family and my good health at 60 years young. I'm grateful I've been healthy enough to work hard and continue to support my family and myself. Personally, I don't depend on any government to exist. Consider that Wackofornia has the 5th largest economy in the world. Its one of the highest taxed states with one of the highest costs of living. Where has all OUR freakin money gone to? This is my question as a payer of taxes. Wackofornia is simply mismanaged and corrupt. How can THIS not be obvious? We have a crumbling infrastructure. Water shortages, yet existing water storage isn't properly maintained, no new storage has been built in many, many years. High fuel taxes yet our roadways aren't well maintained. I live in the Bay Area where there is so much affluence, yet there's homeless camps all along the freeways, in empty fields and garbage everywhere. Many areas here are literally like a 3rd world country. Believe me, it wasn't always this way. We have power outages every time it gets a bit windy. Every summer and fall, we have huge out of control forest fires. Our education system is ranked 41st out of 50, in the state with a massive economy. Im quite happy my daughter is finishing her degree in another state in the top ten ranking. Being the 5th largest economy in the world, a center of technology with influence all over the world, how are we at least improving a little? Being supposedly so great, can't we expect a little to improve? Ive seen things only getting worse for several decades. This 'state' was once a much better place to live. This 'state' ashames me. Shall I continue? This is just a drop in the bucket....
Hu B
Hu B 2 meses atrás
@RollinRat you should be ashamed not of your state but of yourself for being such an ingrate
daaneel 2 meses atrás
@Silver PLAYS You are the clowns that are so defensive of your petty opinions over California. It's true what they say. If people are talking negative about you, then it's because of their jealousy. Haha of course you have all the rights to cry like babies about California, yet I can't call you out on your nonsense? Ok Buddy. Keep crying about another state you don't live in. Wacko this, Wacko that, enjoy your amazing Texas and Arizona weather!! Meanwhile I'll enjoy all the great nature, weather, cities and culture California has to offer.

Your channel is my go to for entertainment. My wife asked me why I binge watched your channel New Years Day. My response, I love it! I've been stuck and frustrated beyond belief. You make recovery look easy. I haven't finished this episode, but I have to ask, why this project? BTW, have you run the Fordyce Trail?

How cool to see Ed out in his element, leading the crew instead of tagging along. He looks 30 years younger. And how nice for these guys to do this for him.

My grandpa was like this in the woods. He hunting racoons with his dogs. I was a teenager and I couldn't keep up with him but put him at the grocery store and he was way behind
