You can have negative decibels if the sound recorded is less than the reference sound. The reference sound in this instance would be the lower limit of average human hearing. This means that the sound recorded in the room is below what an average person or possibly any person can detect.
This has nothing to do with a reference sound. Decibels are measured on a logarithmic scale, where a 10 dB increase is a 10x increase in amplitude. If there is no sound, meaning the air pressure is constant, and never changes, the volume would be -∞ dB. -9 dB simply means the air pressure changes one tenth as much as 1 dB. EDIT: It's 10x, not 2x
So, to us humans, would 0 dB and -9 dB essentially sound the same? Or would they be different in the sense that you can hear more subtle sounds like your blood gushing in your veins?
The problem with Ryan's comment of "-9 dB" is that there was no reference. Typically, when measuring sound levels, you use sound pressure level (SPL) for the reference. In that case, you cannot have a SPL that is almost four times quieter than the threshold of sound, which is 0 dB SPL. You are correct that you can have negative values, as long as we know the reference. For example, 0 dB VU is the reference level for the optimum level passing through a sound system; thus almost all signals are less than zero, going down to -∞.
@oyun go / GD Frust it was a joke bro chill, also just because you aren't taught something doesn't mean its false, nor did he say it was false, he only said that he didn't learn it in med school. That's like saying things you weren't taught in Elem school aren't true just because you didn't learn it. No. It's because it's not age appropriate/relevant to your age or life/culture.
I make a 3D characteristic on my night- and stress meds so I can feel and recognize what I’m searching for. With a glue-gun. If the heat for the hot glue would interfere with a tube of a certain cream or something than there is this 3D craft glue, both are a great option. For visual recognition on my 3 different unique medical recipe creams that are all in the same type of tube, same look, colors and label with the only difference the small letters on those tubes, well, I use a color code on those. Alcohol markers are there in a bunch of colors and then I place a bit of (scotch) tape over the lid to hold the color there
Just to add my two cents, from experience anyways, adding probiotics to my diet helps reduce lactose intolerance as well. I believe it's due to the gut bacteria eating up the lactose before the body can get overly upset about it.
Yeo. He is a representation of mini Mr. Beast. I think Mr. Beast is older, and so based on that I think Ryan if he continues with this, may be, at some point he will be able to help the American community as much as Mr. Beast does
I was allergic to eggs for 13 years, just got over it. Recently found out that im now lactose tolerant. Fun lol. I also have been watching your videos for awhile now and im wanting to be a family doctor, pediatrician when i graduate. So excited! Thank you for helping me find my purpose.
Re: lactose intolerance--for about a decade of my adult life, I was extremely sensitive to dairy food. It was uncomfortable, extremely embarrassing, and made traveling difficult. As my mental health worsened, so did my digestion, until there were only about 6 foods I could eat without suffering. When I finally got some tools in therapy, my health also improved. Eventually, I noticed that I'm not lactose intolerant any more! I eat whole milk Greek yogurt almost daily, and can enjoy cheese, butter and ice cream whenever I want, with no upset. In my case, nursing my parasympathetic nervous system back to health healed my digestion, as well!
A friend of mine back in primary school got over his lactose intolerance (at least for milk) by slowing drinking more and more each day (I mean tiny amounts up to a glass over months), I remember it being really weird for 8 yr old me when his Mum reminded him to have his milk on such a schedule
Dr Mike is amazing, I can't believe how generous he is! Mad respect for Ryan Trahan too, I've been following his journey since the beginning and he is just the best.
it's things like this that remind me there are great and generous and kind people out there in the world, and it makes me so much happier to live amongst them
im 11 years old i eat a healthy mix of foods i swear i will never drink when i grow up i don't eat fruits that often i do eat a lot of meat and veggies im lazy i work out sometimes i skip meals unusually i usually have 3 meals a day i eat McDonalds happy meals about 1 time each month i have ADHD i also have anger issues thats all
Hey, Dr Mike, to answer your question: how do they pull out decibels? Well, firstly the scale doesn't start at 0dB to mean no sound existing in that spot. The scale is based around what the human body can do. 0dB means a human cannot hear the sound, but as you know even if a person can't hear it there can still be a sound, it's just too quiet to hear. The upper limit is the point where the sound is so loud it will kill a person. But I forgot what the number is.
Oh, I remembered a question I had with the comment on sunburn. Doctor Mike, whenever I go to the beach, I use sunscreen, but I noticed that my chest never gets tan in the sun. I spend a couple of hours just sunbathing, but my chest and belly never tan or burn. Is there a reason for that? Only my chest and belly. The rest still tan and can burn after a while. The internet is no help...
Can we get a video on ADHD awareness and how its a REAL thing! Im getting tired of hearing “oh, we all have adhd” or “its not a real medical condition except for being used as an excuse”! Its like no one takes it seriously INCLUDING many medical professionals! Im currently medicated on adderall but my son being 5 1/2 is a bit young so since no one will help with information on it, perhaps you might have good tips or pointers to help younger wees to get help and just raise awareness about adhd! 🥰
Dr. Mike you’re amazing thank you for donating so much to help so many people. You’re a really kind guy. About the tattoo, I think the tattoo should be a QR code that leads to a rick roll. That way it’s really funny and I think Ryan might like that. Let him choose the spot. Maybe on his shoulder where it is visible if he wants it to be.
so this an interesting addendum i think, and doctor mike could have said it when he talked about the fitness challenge, is that over ~42km a week increases your risk of muscleskeletal injury significantly, and is something only someone being paid to run should do, because the risks outweight the benefits for normal people and running is among the most common ways to injure yourself exercising . running is great and healthy but overdoing it is not only increasing the risk of injury but could also lead to overtraining which can make you worse at exercising and also have psychological effects.
Actually, on the whole lactose intolerance thing, there’s a BRvidr called “The Thought Emporium” who does a lot of videos on proteins, genetics, and stuff like that, and he actually edited his DNA, or a protein, or something to that effect, to get rid of his lactose intolerance
"How did he know that was toothpaste?" I literally have 4 things to keep with me for hygiene: Shampoo, soap (bar), toothpaste, deodorant. Two stay inside the shower, and I can't mistake deodorant for toothpaste.
I’ve been watching the entire series of Ryan trying to cross America on just a penny. I love it! He’s such a nice guy and his positive attitude is contagious. We need more people like this in the world. This is going towards a great cause and the money that’s been raised is enough to support families in poverty with MILLIONS of meals! Thankyou so much for you generous donation Doctor Mike! #EatYourVeggies P.S I personally think Ryan should get a tattoo saying CHEST COMPRESSIONS, CHEST COMPRESSIONS, CHEST COMPRESSIONS!
ha! i thought where the heck does Dr Mike live where gas stations have berries? but then i remembered that bananas are berries and most gas stations have bananas.
11:05 those are actually the same pristine bars they give to me & all other patients at/during dialysis and they realllly want you to eat them & if you don’t the dietitian/nutritionist gets mad lmao
@It’sLily people coming from ukraine increases population in the states, and it also means that there is a higher chance for them to become homeless if they are escaping a war. (which I though id add on this is for meals which would be good for someone just getting here who has nothing, or very little considering you dont get much time sometimes to get stuff where war is happening)
To answer the lacrosse intolerance question: yeah, I turned off my lactose intolerance. Just every other year it would either be there or not but now I’m completely fine. I dunno how or why but-
i was born lactose intolerant, but every time before i had lactose i took a lactaid pill. when i hit 6th grade i suddenly was no longer lactose intolerant.
1:45 the same thing happened to me but I sleep yelled instead of sleep walked Also I know people will ask, what did I say. Well,I yelled AUSTRALIA The wierd thing is,I didnt have a dream about Australia that night
Dr mike is the best doctor i've ever met. He is sooo generous to donate this much to feed america. Thank you so much, im glad we have you in this world
@Eezo The Chezo why do you have to meet someone irl to see their personality if they're really popular and they reveal their personality online? dumb comment fr
When i was little i was entirely lactose intolerant and super sensitive to anything of the sort. But adult me isnt. Like ive never had issues and i eat cheese all the time.
it’s always so weird for me when people say “the diet is the hardest part” because, I quite often have to force myself to eat to meet the 1800 calorie minimum goal I set myself. I have some body image issues but nothing too serious, I simply don’t feel hungry. Or I’m super absorbed into something and I realise I haven’t eaten slept or drunk anything in the past 15 hours at 8 am.
Doctor Mike when you said everyone should eat more veggies it inspired me to eat strawberries. I eat veggies, but not often enough. So I am now currently eating strawberries while typing this.
Literally have been watching Ryan every morning it’s crazy how big he has gotten but also crazy how big Dr. Mike has gotten. I feel like MeBeast, Dr Mike, and Ryan are a new generation of BRvidrs who are trying to help others and living modest lives. I think our generation just wants to live comfortably and if we are blessed with something extra we want to help others to live comfortably too. I really like it very nice to see these guys working together.
Dr Mike drives a Lamborghini and frequently goes to celebrity events. But yes the philanthropy is better than none. I personally don’t think those Italian cars are worth the prices compared to the best electric or environmentally friendly.
I had lactose intolerance when I was young, but I don’t have it anymore, I can eat as much dairy as I want now. I think it was all of the yogurts that I ate as a kid. Can you confirm this?
My brother was diagnosed with lactose and tolerance and gluten-free and we recently when back to cheek if he still was and the doctor said you are able to overcome it by building up to it 🤷♀️
Yeah you can, it can take like 5 years but it works, I’m allergic to grass and tree pollen but I’m getting better by getting having a med that exposes me to that pollen in small increasing amounts :)
I literally can't sleep in total darkness. My room has to be dim in order to sleep. I mean you can see it from the outside of my room. I only use 2 night lights in order to achieve this effect. What happens if my room is pitch black? There goes my chances of getting sleep. I've done this for so long that now it's the only way I can sleep. If a room is dark it feels smaller. I don't know why. My brain is weird.
As a Doctor, you are obligated to give correct advice. As a former tattoo artist, I am obligated to tell you "No" on the QR code tattoo. QR codes are temporary, most of the addresses they link to will not exist very soon... especially 40 or more years from now.
