The best comparison between the two games Counter Strike 2 or CS2 (2023) and Counter Strike Global Offensive or CSGO (2020), I will compare the most important similarities, physics, details, textures and special places in the game. The entire video was created by myself (GameLight).
Many players have been waiting for a long time for CS GO to switch to the new Source 2 engine, and it finally happened, this summer CS2 will officially be released at the moment in limited testing (Valve)

I was also able to find a change that was not included in the video, these are skins, weapon parts, shooting spray: Skins: The skins of weapons with a scope have changed, where the developers have added a skin to the scope itself. Weapon Details: Small details have been added to many of the weapons, which seem to change with the skin. Spray shooting: I noticed that the spray from the shooting has changed a little.

Там и предметы от ударной силы гранат, под действием выстрелов или нажатием клавиши "E" двигались, и многие предметы разрушались буквально по деталькам, начиная от компьютеров и клавиатуры и заканчивая папками с бумажками, телевизорами и картинами.

@ColossalCereal Its the same game with same map,Animation.. There no reason to compare those stuff. And its a shiity hype mood of valve only gave one map when mirage,train is not even an overhaul map Been sicken of looking at dust2 now.

I mean if it doesn't change the gameplay fairly significantly, people will just stay on CSGO unless they take it offline entirely. Steam player number count the 100s of thousands of bots in-game farming afk crates.

No reason to fear. Source 2 is a modern engine, uses the modern PC's resources more efficiently. I have R5 5600 with RX 6700 XT. Average 300-400 FPS (full low, 1280x960) in CS:GO, 500-600 in CS2.

Opinions on the game: I like how the skybox and raw distance are improved way better and you can’t see anything that looks odd. I do think the smoke could get improvements with the way it look and the tires and windows should break or deflate. The game looks great and I think it has a chance to retake its lead in the best tactical game. Beating valorant or Rainbow 6 Siege. So far, my opinion is positive

I like that smoke has some physics in it but I see a small problem with the textures they're using and that there are gaps in it and if a player walks through it, you would see their feet.

The mechanics of smoke has become of course cool and the characters themselves with their shadows are clearly visible, but why are textures created on the map that are not displayed? This only increases the load on other participants' computers. What pleases me the most about the changes is that now the shooting is no longer dependent on the player's ping, since I live in Siberia and it often jumped to 80-90. This gives opponents a detection advantage to hook me on the edge of the character, and prevents me from shooting normally with awp. Я также благодарю тебя за прочтение комментария ❤

Yeah that would be really cool, as long as the timings stayed the same, iirc the time to finish the reload when you empty your mag is every eo slightly slower because they need to load one into the chamber, I'm not 100% sure maybe it's my memory failing

I think it could be a cool thing they could do like skins where you can get cooler looking reloads, but all it should affect is the animation. Every second in a game like cs matters and if I doubt it would be good for balance

I still can’t believe how good CS go is. What a step up from CS source while maintaining the same gameplay. I prefer the old layout for joining servers but the competitive matchmaking is nice. 😊

The physics of the smoke grenade were very interesting, better than that just the fact that the HE explodes close to the Smoke Grenade and actually throws away the object that propagates the smoke.The same could be applied to fire, if it is hit by a HE, in this case just spreading the flames, some visual change in the way the flame is reached by the explosion. But I don't know, in relation to the environments of the scenario, it seemed like a downgrade to me. They could add new mechanics, interaction between player and scenario, some of these barrels could be explosive, in short, so many things that I think would be cool in gameplay.

Some of the improvements on display here are nice such as the smoke detail and the graphics improvement, but I expected an obvious 10+ year upgrade, it feels more like a midlife rework. I'm hoping I'm wrong and the game lives up to expectations🤞

The smoke stuff is cool but I feel like they could have made the bullet holes in objects better. For example: the trash bag could leak trash when you shoot it or the cars window can crack when it's shot.

Yeah things look a little better, but not nearly as much as I expected. Someone mentioned it would be nice if the sand bags leaked sand when shot. The bullet holes look more realistic (not as big) hitting metal barrels or cars, but I kind of like the old versions better in a way. Plus some things just seem like, after all this time, they could look better yet. The rounds hitting a clay pot only put holes in the front instead of going clear through and putting holes in both sides of the pot. And really, a clay pot should shatter with the first shot or so. The segment of showing the car tires being shot would have looked better yet if the tires had gone flat and the car settled the four inches or so on the flat tire. I'm sure I'll enjoy the improvements, but after all this time I would have thought they could have put in more destructible terrain or items in the game to make it a little more realistic. After all, rounds only last about two minutes or so. Boxes being shot up so much that they come apart or doors being chewed up or blown off their hinges would have made things even better I think. What would also be really cool would be if they could come up with some way to have basic maps change a little from game to game if you select that option. Such as stacks of boxes or debris be in different locations, doors to various buildings being open to create a different path, places you can climb up to or on to that you couldn't normally and things like that. If you put enough random things that can open up or move or appear from game to game the permutations could result in thousands or hundreds of thousands different maps! They could be different every game you played!!

De verdad espero que vuelvan las físicas del cs source. No solo se prestaba para diversas mecánicas, también daba una gran inmersión ver papeles, computadoras y cajas destruyéndose y volando por los aires. Incluso hasta elementos del mapa al momento de que la bomba explota, era demasiado genial y satisfactorio a la vez de ver. Pero claro. esto cambio en cs go, ya que lo removieron para hacerlo más competitivo. Aunque si es de verdad una secuela del counter strike deberían volver esas físicas ya que el objetivo de una secuela. Es la mejora y expansión del anterior titulo. Si leíste esto hasta el final gracias y toma un chocolate 🍫

The original looks miles ahead, the new looks so damn flat and clean, its better for gameplay visualization, but looks terrible, like valorant and overwatch. The OG looked way more realistic and gritty, this new looks too cartoonish with no contrast and soft textures.

I can understand the lack of new details and destructibles because the game needs to run on most setups with a stable framerate and needs to maintain the best server latency to avoid unfair matches.

Dust2 isnt reworked in CS2, but other maps are, like Nuke, which is more detailed than it was before. But yeh I think another reason everything remains "static" is just because of the clinical nature of the gunplay & tactics not being affected by shit vanishing or moving around.

You guys didn’t remember CS Source. That thing got destructible objects and moving objects too. Seems like games are moving backwards now a days. That smoke looked like something out of CS1.2 the same thing happened to GTA4 downgraded to GTA5 in the physics department.

I liked the bullet impacts on CSS more.. also the bullets went through simple barrels and leaved marks in front and behind (and you can hit enemies behind it). Don't know how it is in CS2.

I prefer the lighting of CSGO as it makes the game look not so washed out, and have actual contrast. I hope that we'll be able to have CS2's light have this desired contrast that's present in the likes of Half Life Alyx, and in some screenshots of CS2 that makes me think it is in the game but depending on people's settings for it, the game looks like the washed out mess it is, such as in this video.

CSGO's contrast is way worse for visibility. And visibility is the main thing that matters in a competitive shooter.

@Nicholas Bleker cool, that doesn't mean that the problem with visibility doesn't exist. It objectively does and Valve have been working to fix it. CS2's visuals are the consequence of this work. And it's a step in the right direction.

I like more light and contrast in CSGO too . Better visibility is a good thing , but if you want perfect visibility , you can have only white and black enviroment and green characters for example xD And CSGO have very different feel much better for older players . Cs2 have feel like game for kids 6-10 years old .

Было бы полезно, если бы на гранаты добавили предварительный звук срабатывания перед вылетом чеки, хлопок, который есть в реальной жизни. По нему можно было бы понять, что кто-то сейчас кидает в тебя гранату из-за угла и была бы одна секунда на реагирование.

@7emfic когда отлетает чека, происходит срабатывание запала с характерным хлопком, после чего спустя несколько секунд происходит сам взрыв. Посмотри видео тесты боевых гранат.

Algunas mejoras se agradecen pero la verdad es que esperaba mucho más, considerando que pasaron 11 años del lanzamiento del CS: GO y están reutilizando el 90% del juego. Ni siquiera las mejoras gráficas son muy notables.

Da pra melhorar mais. Pneu furar Diferenças na textura após impacto das balas. Exemplo: vidro, cerâmica, metal e saco plástico. Fumaça da smoke sumir após granada ou tiros: física dos objetos: tiros nos barris por exemplo, tem que derrubar o objeto. Tiro nas lâmpadas ou destruição dos objetos são coisas que dão maior imersão. O CS é um jogo que fez parte de gerações mas isso um dia vai acabar, quem se adapta se fortalece. Há jogos que pensam mais nessa imersão. No mais, espero melhoras no sistema anti cheat.

The palm trees look completely out of place, almost like plastic. And they should add at least a bit ambient occlusion to the corners. Also, the smoke could use some ground shadow. Looks really strange at 1:00. Otherwise nice update.

Fun fact: on older versions of cs go you could actually throw a molotov into a smoke and it would burn inside of the smoke

Lighting is better in this game, but the shadows aren't dark enough, so it makes the scene look a bit too vertex shaded for my liking, ruining the effect of the lighting... Valve might as well use full bright characters as well, while they are at it, so hiding is no longer a valid strategy. I saw very little texture upgrade. I hope it all gets fixed before it comes out.

The sky is bright, that's why the shadows aren't very dark, the light from the sky bounces in the shadows. That's how real lighting in a bright desert like that would look

The only thing I don’t like about this update is the ability to shoot or create holes through the smoke so you can see through. Not only you can shoot out holes through the smoke, it can all be blown away to non-existent with just one frag grenade. I get they are trying to make it more realistic but in my opinion, that just makes the smoke less useful, or maybe they are doing it to make the game more balanced

@Walisson Martins Pois é, veja bem eu não me decepcionei. Joguei CSGO por 8 anos, parei porque dei uma enjoada mesmo. Espero voltar a jogar com o CS2 mas pra isso me falta algo a mais pra dar aquele impulso. Não levo muito em consideração só esses pequenos detalhes ou as gameplays de Pro Players principalmente porque usam jogo em baixa qualidade gráfica focada mais em competitivo. Prefiro não criar muitas expectativas agora, é mais aguardar mesmo e avaliar como está o game... CS sempre fez parte da minha vida desde o 1.6 de Lan-house mas chegou uma hora que deu. Veremos... 🧐

The bomb explosion is wayyy to slow. Honestly it would be amazing if they made the epicenter much faster and then add a fast traveling smoke effect around the area.

I think there is still alot of work to polish the animations. Yes it looks better, yet the smoke is off maybe du the high lightening of the overall game they brought in? Also I don't see a big difference in in impacts on objects, why the car tire or window doesn't break up when you shoot on it?For example shooting on a tire can lower the car by a couple of centimeters and make the guy hiding behind it more visible. Same for the drums why there is no water or oil leak when shooting that make cause a start of a fire? It definitely still needs more realism on this points to make it a huge step forward next to CS:Go, otherwise it will only look like a simple makeover from the original, I'm afraid.

​@LadrilloRojois not that serious, the context of the game modes and maps looks like a movie The SWAT (or whatever is that CTU in the game) is not about fire power but to reduce the amount of lost lives. They wouldn't bring a D.Eagle and spin it around, neither Akimbo Berettas, especially Frag grenades, they are forbiden from using them

@Windows Door Daniel Well, that's not even part of the base concept. That smoke is just a couple jpgs in your screen compared to the current smoke that... Is an actual smoke. Lets also put magic so you can see a zebra running with an ak, just like zombie mod.

I think rockstar might actually work on something like this. RAGE engine is known for its enviroment reactions. Like grass in rdr2. so they could do the same with volumetric smoke and particles

Ikr, if they are not doing this things because of optimization, they should use shadow mapping for the smoke, there is big potential in here and i understand the game is competitive and has to keep that feel so people don’t feel like it’s a totally different game but damn, i wish we had some tweaks on the animations.

With the many charging handle racks, he'd be out of bullets. It's 2023 and still has not changed. You don't need to rack the charging handle when transitioning to the primary, unless you start with an empty gun with a closed bolt.

Counter-Strike versions after Source have not made any progress in front of competitors and on the contrary, they have regressed in terms of graphic designs and special effects. I hope Valve improves this in the future.

@Kelele yes cs is dead aftet 1.6, now all players don't even try to kill to the head, just use random and that spray mechanic to kill enemies, it's so boring to watch and even more boring to play. + in cs source barrels and other objects from shots and explosions moved broken windows looked just so great and now 2023 year and all good we got this smoke, not a new shooting mechanic, not new phisics nothing new.
