I don't know why but Tommen's death is so haunting to me. The way he just dropped himself from the window without any emotion, not even fear or pain.

In the books he was a child from about 10 years. His favourite job of being king was to stamp the kings papers. Not able to understand - and to stand the "game of thrones". You win or you die!

Tommen's death was one of the most disturbing moments of Game of Thrones. He was such a sweet boy and I think everything became too mufh for him. When the Sept blew up, knowing his mother prevented him from going so he wouldn't suffer the same fate, yet having to inevitably watch in horror knowing his wife was inside when it happened... he lost everything. And knowing his mother was responsible didn't help either. He couldn't handle it and so, I think he wanted to have control of one thing, at least one thing in his own life... and that was his own death.

Tommen is just a normal kid. He doesn't know how to rule a kingdom, he respects his elders, he's naive and easily influenced, and he is optimistic. I would actually say that Cersei and Joffrey didn't change him at all.

Looking how the three kids behave, I believe Cersei had really toxic influence to people around her. I mean, when Jamie was away from her, he's at best. Cersei was not close to Tommen and Myrcella, since she 'prepared' Joffrey to be the next king.

Yeah, Cersei is an evil women who’s far was than Martell. But I still find it somewhat satisfying when she tortured her as revenge for her daughter. I know it’s a morbid thing. But I keep going back and forth between hating Cersei and feeling satisfied when she’s defeated, to feeling bad for her and wanting the people who abuse her taken down. She’s still very evil either way though.
Corey
Corey Mês atrás
It wasn’t unnecessary. She had very good reason to do what she did. The Lannisters were responsible for the deaths of many women and children.
Corey
Corey Mês atrás
@Jessica Carlisle also, Jamie and Cersei did cause Oberyn’s death because they accused Tyrion of murdering Joffrey, which he demanded a trial by combat. Cersei chose the Mountain, causing Oberyn to challenge him in an attempt to force him into admitting to the Lannisters ordering the deaths of the Martells.
Corey
Corey Mês atrás
@Jessica Carlisle the Lannisters killed Elia Martell and her children, then killed Oberyn. That’s the logic behind killing Myrcella.
LucianDevine
LucianDevine Mês atrás
Dorne will never be ruled by weak men again. I mean why have weak men when you can have short-sighted women do the job instead? I am going to play devil's advocate for just a moment and say that she might have blamed Lannisters as a whole and killed Myrcella because of that. I say this, because while Oberyn did volunteer to fight, he never would have had to fight if it wasn't a trial by combat with a Lannister trying to kill another Lannister. That said, I 100% agree that killing Myrcella is stupid as all hell. You could frame the death of the other men on assassinations by some rival or another and let Myrcella rule as queen. With Myrcella as queen of Dorne, you have an ironclad treaty with Lannisters that the Cersei will never break, but you are free to break at any time by later killing Myrcella and switching sides. Maybe that's why Myrcella was killed, because she was heading back to King's Landing, and they knew she was never coming back? So they chose that moment to get pseudo revenge for Oberyn's death, thinking they'd either never know it was them or be in a position to get revenge themselves.
XavierThe4th
XavierThe4th 2 meses atrás
I feel no sympathy for the woman who murdered Myrcella. She killed a young girl when it wasn't even her fault that Oberyn died. It wasn't even murder since it was a trial by combat. I feel bad for Jaime too. He finally got to be open with Myrcella about being her father, and she dies straight after. Dying in your father's arms while he's unable to do anything to save her. It's sad 😔 That's why I think Cersei was right in her revenge against her. Pretty karmic too, she caused the same pain to Ellaria the same way she did Jaime: Killing her child while Ellaria can't do anything to save her.
XavierThe4th
XavierThe4th Mês atrás
True, although I didn't say or mean that she had any moral ground to stand on. All I'm saying is that Ellaria got what was coming to her, cause while Cersei is shit, Ellaria ain't no Saint.

That part with Tommen actually was kinda sad, they forced the crown on him too, so when he saw what happened at the congregation with Dragons Breath, I think he know what would have happened next, the people would have turned too their "King" for answers which he would have none too give, still sucks he chose to throw himself from the tower, like I said, it was forced onto him, he never wanted that responsibility and have to shoulder the burden of ruling King's Landing

@Dharmdeep Singh I think he was wise, but not cunning. He was inexperienced, and also honest, something we know from Littlefinger dooms you in Kings Landing. He would have done well as a king with guidance, but he wasn't cutthroat, and had too many experienced players working against him. Really, his only naivety was trusting his family- something Starks didn't have to worry about.

He realised he was a toy. Not really a king, no one really wanted him there including himself, and simply a chess piece in everyone else's game and lost the one person that tried to give him his own agency. Margarey had her own motives, and she used him too but at least she pulled him up. She encouraged him and supported him. He lost her, and lost any power over his own life.

The way he walked through the window and let himself fell down is so scary and sad. You will know that he's determined and have felt nothing but pain in the moment and never hesitated to end his life. That's the scariest phase in suicide, the time when the victim has one goal which is to die without hesitation,no threats or crying or drama just straight up jumping through the window.

Maggy the Frog is waaay scarier in the books. From the Ice and Fire wiki: "Maggy was squat and warty, with crusty yellow eyes, no teeth, and pale green jowls. She spoke in a croaking, accented voice. She had a bent-back. Westerosi could not pronounce her real name, which was long and foreign sounding. Some considered her a priestess or a half-mad witch woman. Maggy conducted business in a dark green tent with a tall peaked roof."

@KN Byam It is called character design and story telling these are important part of literature and novel writing to invoke emotions to the reader apart from that it is nothing original by Gorge RR Martin the story of a witch who are deformed who live in a cave or forest who heals/poisons/tell fortune etc.. are always in lore and mythology it is quite common stories like Mother Shipton have inspired many novelists to create character based on her

Every evil character in the story must pay something. Cercei's rooted sin was pride. She wanted everything and had it for a moment until the violence she practiced on others came right back to her. Her walk of Shame, losing her three children, never having the approval of her father...all of this came to her because of her desire of being absolute. That's why she perceived her relationship with Jamie and the kids she had with him, as the most reasonable way of prevail in the world. No one cares but me; the life I only create, the people I own ("I sleep with my brother cause it feels good to feel him inside"). She didn't lose her children. She doomed them. The curse was her pride. In the end, the death of her kids was necessary for her to be absolute. Just a queen sitting in the Iron Throne, holding the most absolute power, alone and prideful.
NP
NP 3 meses atrás
Nature of children is one thing and nurture is another thing. Joffrey was raised in a different way because he’s the heir of the throne and he’s awful by nature while Myrcella and Tommen don’t have that pressure and power and they’re just normal royal kids thinking their path is just to get married with some high born to maintain the power for their brother, but yeah plot twist and they all died

Prophecies are very tricky. For example, just for the first one, Cersei asks if she's going to marry the Prince. We know she's asking about Rhaegar. But, Doran and Oberyn also have the title of Prince. And I think there was the idea to marry her to Oberyn. Maggy answers she's not going to marry the Prince but the King. For Cersei, Aerys will die soon and Rhaegar will become King. But that could also said that something could happen to Queen Rhaella (dying during childbirth) and Aerys could decide to marry her ( 🤢). So, the answers of Maggy the Frog are vague enough that they could be interpreted in different way, but still giving Cersei the answers she wanted to hear.
Sandrine Laroche

@Isabella She never said Cersei will outlive her kids. She said they will die. But everyone is going to die one day and as a Lannister and royalty, of course, there will be gold.

Isabella 2 meses atrás
Prophecies, by nature, are vague. Ultimately, each choice one makes in life causes a turn in the path they follow. Good to bad. Bad to good. People can be very self fulfilling. Basically she prophecied that Cersei would outlive her children. Given the clan warfares and deaths in childbirth at the time, the chances of her children dying before Cersei had pretty good odds in general.

@James Swindley he was certain his love had died, and was going to probably be the one blamed for it, not to mention the destruction of the legal system. Not to mention he knew what happen to Joffrey, he was probably just cutting out the middle man.

I think Tommen jumped because the only woman who loved him for him or atleast could stand to be around him and hear his thoughts died. He knew he was never king but to lose her with such devastation of his mother’s doing hence the big knight guy.

While Joffrey deserved what was coming to him, the deaths of the other Lannister children was honestly really tragic. Tommen was just a manipulated kid, and Marcella wasn’t even a proper claimant. A victim of circumstance

Well let alone the story line, Cersie was herself cause for the death of all 3 kids. Her hunger for wanna be Queen and till the end of Kings landing. The way all ended in the end. White walkers were mere just a filler series of episodes.

The prophecy said gold will be their crowns and gold will be their shrouds. This does not mean just their golden hair, but actual crowns. GRRM's world follows strict medieval succession laws. It is a matter of honor for for bannermen as their houses are sworn to the ruling family. Even Robert Baratheon was accepted as king because he had a legitimate right being next in line after Prince Rhaegar's children and siblings through his Targaryen grandmother. So there is no way in seven hells that Cersei would be able to plop her ass on thrown and be accepeted queen regnant. Cersei will marry her daughter to captive Faegon thus putting an actual crown on her, and ruling through them in the last couple of books.

Its funny and tragic that all of Cecie's plans backfire on her that causes the near destruction of her house until her actual death

I love this scene in concept but there's no mention of it again and the writers didn't even remember that Cersi killed her first child because it was Roberts so she actually had four children
Brooklyn Barlow
Brooklyn Barlow Mês atrás
@Kristen Schowalter The only mention of Robert’s child with Cersei is in the first season and it’s Cersei telling Caitlyn to get the spotlight on herself and not the fact that Bran may die. Cersei is a pathological liar and a manipulator. The books and the show are very close to each other clear up to season three
Kristen Schowalter

@Brooklyn Barlow Fair play, but it doesn't fit in the show which should stand separate from the books by this point

I mean isn’t like HUGELY ironic how both of some of the most despicable and death-deserving characters of the show (Cersei, Joffrey, Tywin) and some of the VERY few completely decent, pure and innocent poor souls Who lost their lives unfairly in the said one (Mycella, Tommen) are Lannisters? And then we have that misunderstood-noble-at-heart-oh-I’m-cruel-just-because-I’m-in-LOVE-and-therefore-Iet-me-rape-my-sister-in-front-of-OUR-DEAD-SON man Who throws in the mud an entire redeeming arc at the very last Moment (Jamie) and of course Tyrion, the Everyone favourite “I’m an incredibly nice guy considerering how Everyone treated me like dirt or a joke for my entire life and you know I used to be “the smartest man on Earth” then I found the love of my life in my father’s bed and went Rambo on them and that’s why I forgot to notice every single red flag about this dragon lady coming out of nowhere to destroy my country and home. That and you know, she is pretty. Boy, what a family.

Most likely. In the books, Cersei does get pregnant with a baby from Robert but she forces a miscarriage right after she finds out so the baby never made it past the first trimester

Sister met a Prince, but married a King - Scar is very dangerous. King will have 20 children, you will have three. Cersei had children with the Prince not the King, surely she saw all her children been killed one by one. There are no jokes when it comes to Local citizens. Scar is a huge in size compared to the Animation movie - Fat King.
