Are you sure i the 4th attempt of the mongols they defeated the mamelukes in Turkey they can go all the way to Egypt but the Mongol hesitated and turned back please review Mongol history its documented the mamelukes were defeated in the fourth invasion in Turkey gosh your so hype with the mamelukes it was difficulty at home that turned back the Mongols it was only one segment of the Mongols that attacked the mamelukes the Ilkhanate but if you r going to add the golden horde khanate its impossible for mamelukes to win like what history tells us the golden horde is as at odd with the Ilkhanate if you combine the 4 khanates the golden horde , Ilkhanate, jagatai khanates, great khan in karakorum plus yuan dynasty in China I don't think they will win the only reason why the golden horde did not join was because they became Muslim themselves min fact it was documented mamelukes wooed the khan of golden horde and allied with him but in the fourth invasion mamelukes were defeated in Turkey and they can go all the way to Egypt but they hesitated and turn back that saved the mamelukes again for the second time remember the Mongol established the largest land empire ever existed another thing the turkomongol tamerlane defeated the mamelukes in syria and also defeated the ottoman sultan bayezid 1 in ankara again the complete capitulation of the mamelukes was in the hands of the ottoman Empire which extinguished the mamelukes poor mamelukes in 1299 AD at the battle of wadi al khaznadar the mamelukes were routed and was in retreat to Egypt by Mongol general mulay with allied forces of Christian Georgia and Armenia they pursued the mamelukes as far as far as Gaza then turned back because of threat of chaghatai khanate attacking Ilkhanate from the backdoor to so you see Mongols were at war among themselves

YouTube Mods Are Snowflake Lefties
@Johnny Yeah, they act like their defeat of the Crusader kingdoms was a great feat, when the Crusaders were always outnumbered, lacked manpower, etc. And still they struggled against them. They also act like the Crusades were this heinous, traumatic event and completely unprovoked aggression, when in reality their religion and zealot behaviour was being aggressive towards Europe and Christianity for HUNDREDS of years prior to the Crusades. They invaded Europe first and not just once either, in fact they started fighting and invading Christian lands a mere couple of decades after their religion was invented by a mad man in a cave. Less than 100 years after it's invention it had spread from a cave throughout the whole Arbpeninsula, the middle East, parts of hinter anatolia, all of North Africa, Iberia (Spain & Portugal) and even into southern France. Yet they whine that they got hit back and say it was so unfair and for no reason... And leftoid historians reinforce this lie, so they can use it to reinforce & frame the whole "Whitey bad" narrative.

The famous Hulagu-Berke Khan war. This stopped Hulagu permanently from returning back. Battle of Ain Jalut and Battle between Berke Khan and Hulagu Khan. Thanks!

From research to graphics to commentary, it's all so immaculate and gripping at the same time. My only complain is that there is not enough of it. With long gaps, youtube sometimes stop recommending. But I can understand. With this kind of quality and research, it takes time to produce these videos. You are doing great job.

THAN is used in comparisons as a conjunction (as in "she is younger than I am") and as a preposition ("he is taller than me"). THEN indicates time. It is used as an adverb ("I lived in Idaho then"), noun ("we'll have to wait until then"), and adjective ("the then-governor"). In case you legit don’t know the difference..

According to our history, Baibars indeed was the one to assassinate Qutuz who was about to retire and name Baibars as the new Sultan, Baibars immediately regretted his actions and betrayal (thanks to other princes influence) of his friend (Frival) and begged to be killed for his crime, Qutuz stopped the guards from killing Baibars and told them that he is now their Sultan, and they must swear fealty to him, it's kinda a sad story of misunderstanding.

The reason why Mamluks used the feigned retreat against the Mongols is that they gained information about Mongol tactics from deserted Mongols. If you look at 11:40 , Mamluks had some Mongol soldiers among their army.

@Abbos Juraev yes see battle of Carhae. Parthians used this exact fake retreat tactics hundreds of years earlier. It is also called the Parthian shot also known as the parthian maneuver . Where during retreat they turn on horseback and shoot while retreating. The early Iranic tribes were the masters in it. This is why they had the Silkroad and Steppes under control for so long

Muslims used to be great war tacticians. If you read their history, you will find out that in many cases they were significantly outnumbered by the opposition still they managed through war tactics and high morale to eventually win. One great example of that is the Battle of Yarmouk (against Byzantine Empire) and the Battle of Al Qadisiyyah (against Sassanian Empire) and both battles took place in two months time span !!! Thank you for this great video. Keep up the good work. Waiting for your next video.

Great content. Actually, Saif'uddin Qutuz had avenged his family's lost reputation at this battle. The sources said he was Jalal'uddin's (the last Khwarazmian sultan) nephew who was sold as slave in Damascus to an Egyptian noble when he was 10. Since he came out from royal background, he impressed others with his discipline, knowledge and commitment. The later is the story

After the Mamluk victories over Mongols at Ain Jalut in 1260 and Albistan in 1277, the Il-khan Abaqa sent his brother Möngke Temur at the head of a large army which numbered about 40-50,000 men, chiefly Armenians under Leo II and Georgians under Demetrius II. The two armies met south of Homs, a city in western Syria. In a pitched battle, the Armenians, Georgians and Oirats under King Leo II and Mongol generals routed and scattered the Mamluk left flank, but the Mamluks personally led by Sultan Qalawun destroyed the Mongol centre. Möngke Temur was wounded and fled, followed by his disorganized army. However, Qalawun chose to not pursue the defeated enemy, and the Armenian-Georgian auxiliaries of the Mongols managed to withdraw safely. The following year, Abaqa died and his successor, Tekuder, reversed his policy towards the Mamluks. He converted to Islam and forged an alliance with the Mamluk sultan

@Abu Yazid I seem to have missed one of your comments, so I'll respond to the specific points :) _"no I never called Islam a religion of peace"_ I never said you did. I was being sarcastic as a 'religion of peace' is what its claimed to be so often it's almost a running joke by others. _"Your undermining 11% of the world population at the time that got Annihilated by the mongols!!"_ No, I'm responding to your hypocrisy. You act like the Mongols were some evil force then, despite Islamic nations/followers doing just as bad things TODAY. _"And ur comparing it to infidels who most likely were U.S/Nato troops in Afghanistan or Iraq or any Muslim country who’s occupied by invaders and ur crying because they got their head chopped off?"_ No, I'm saying that followers of an ideology cannot condemn others when they still carry out barbaric acts today. People get their heads lopped off today just because they don't believe in your god. That's what I object to. And instead of objecting to it too, you remain silent. _"What about over 1 million innocent Iraqis killed by U.S forces during the time of Saddam and after?"_ Yeah that's messed up. I don't endorse it. _"Will you justify the actions of ur American soldiers who dropped chemical bombs on Fallujah?"_ I'm not American and I don't endorse that either. But maybe if the Taliban and whoever else didn't fight like cowards by arming children and fighting from behind women, there would have been less innocent people injured or worse. I'm not lying to anyone. I'm simply pointing out the hypocrisy of those who follow violent and oppressive ideologies that remain silent when its other nations or religions which are on the receiving end, but are the first to complain when the tables are turned. Even if it's over something as trivial as mockery or criticism!

@Hadji Bouchrit but that was predictable af u just can’t conquer that large land mass without having future problems. It was a matter of time for the mongols to their empire crumble as great part of their citizens weren’t even mongols. The amount of diplomacy and administration was beyond their levels as they were just nomadic tribes who managed for a while to conquer a great part of the Eurasia continent.

What a legendary battle this was. With 2 very strong leaders leading it. For me the most impressive was how Baibar was abled to perfectly do a fighting retreat. I am sure there were many unknown heroes in this battle within the army it self. For the whole army to be able to stay in formation and following orders in all the chaos is impressive. And I also believe that the resolve of each individual soldiers was to die fighting there. The mongol leader and army was also no slouch. The leader was brilliant and the army was determined. Which makes this win for the Muslim that much more legendary. Sometime I wished I would have been born in those times. Life would have been simple and I wouldn’t have mind dying in a legendary battle like this.

The Last Line defense is the hardest. Knowing the wrath of the enemy, size and power of the opponent 3 times your size needs a heart of an immortal. Baibars and Qutuz, specially Baibars who held the enemy upfront with very few troops knowing that his failure would be catastrophe for the entire Islamic world. Kitbuqa should also be praised for his bravery that he preferred dying at the hands of his enemy rather fleeing off like other commanders. Thank you @HistoryMarche for presenting this epic battle.

Excellent video with incredible new details that I myself did not learn in school in Egypt even though we had a book we studied all about this history. The events surrounding Qutuz's assassination were not properly explained though. According to what we learned, Baibars was actually tricked by those rivals into thinking Qutuz was planning to kill Baibars even though he never did.

@blitzy My brother, these people knew the rulings on everything about jihad and fasting, and when they broke their fast for the necessity of the battle, they were a million times better than the Muslims of today, and there is no disagreement about that, and it is not possible for anyone in this time to be preferred, no matter how powerful they are, and they certainly used to break their fast because there was no room for fasting at the time of these existential battles.

@blitzy With regard to jihad in Ramadan, other hadiths would reflect the hypothetical greater importance that Muhammad would give to importance that Muhammad would give to religious warfare (always understood as legitimate self-defence, never as attack or terrorism) as opposed to fasting. Thus, according to a hadith of Muslim, Muhammad would state:[That] guarding the frontier for a day and a night is better than a month's fast and a month's voluntary meditation at night voluntary meditation at night, and if anyone dies while engaged in such a watch, that in which he was engaged and his provision will both be continued, and he will be delivered from the torment of the grave. In other hadiths it is narrated how Muhammad would order to break the fast in order to make jihad, as it was in the battle of Badr and in the conquest of Mecca, as Abu Sa'eed al-Khudri would transmit in a hadith collected by Muslim:

Very nice video of this historic battle! Seems like in this battle the mongols no longer used their traditional steppe nomad tactics of maneuvering, feigned retreats and envelopment, and instead tried a simplistic head-on attack. Is it because their army composition changed and was no longer mainly nomadic? Mamluks on the other hand did a great job of deceiving the enemy and luring them into a trap.

My take on this: the Mamluks got lucky they faced only part of the Mongol army and fought tactically excellent. The Mongols executed a good plan but got unlucky - the right-wing advance just stopped, their leader captured. I like it a lot the battle was well-fought on both sides. As Hannibal would say: "I love it when a plan comes together. "

@Erdinç Yılmaz not all of them were turkic, there were circassians, khawarizmian and mongolians mamluks but the significant ones were turkic also the army was not only formed by mamluks. Even the Turkish Mamluks were not culturally turkish and u can find a big difference between them and their neighborhood of ottoman. The mamluks were 100% easterners in their culture and their tongue was perfectly Arabic and maybe that was the result of being adopted in Islamic Arabic culture in Egypt and Syria.

Muslims didn't only manage to hold back the Monguls at Ain Jalut. They later reverted the Mongols to Islam, teaching them mercy during war, and the importance of knowledge; especially after they previously destroyed the great library of Baghdad and used its books to build a crossway for their infantry over the rivers of Iraq; it's said the rivers ran black with ink for months. The Monguls became builders, scholars, farmers, engineers, artists and doctors when they embraced Islam, no longer a barbaric band of aggressors that burned through continents.

Whoever wonders why Qutuz killed the envoys and why he did not continue discussions to prevent the invasion, I will tell you by looking at the cities that the Mongols occupied in their campaign, starting from the cities of the Khwarizmians to reaching Syria, we find one scene that is repeated over and over, that the Mongols besiege a city and have annihilated the city that precedes it, so they deceive some of the city’s people by not Killing the residents by handing over the city, and internal divisions were taking place among the residents. Eventually, things ended with the doors opening peacefully to the Mongols and the massacre happening again. By killing the messengers, Qutuz decided his position and the position of those who rule them that there is no choice but to fight against the Mongols

Interesting enough Kitbuga himself was an East Christian (Nestorian) and this victory essentially marked the end of crusaders' presence in the Middle East. Excellent video. Kitbuga was fast to understand the situation and his tactical decisions were adequate. However, they were not enough to break the resilience of Mamlukes. Only one critical remark: there is nothing to do with saving Europe since Mongols never returned to Europe in greater numbers after Batu through much more suitable terrain in Hungarian and Polish planes.

He established the Dervish movement in Somalia that fought a 20-year war against the British, Italian, and Ethiopian empires. He was the first African crushed a jet . He defeated the European colonies many times using horses and guns. He used to get support from Ottoman Empire. He was not killed but died and his grave is unknown at all. This is because the European wanted him alive or dead so that they take his body back to Europe but his soldiers never wanted their deceased general to be taken. It's just a request 🙏🙏🙏🙏 plzzz

@Al Maxabbah I've revamped some of my workflow and I hope to be able to release videos more often as of August, hopefully 3-5 videos per month.

Your history videos are better then what history teachers tell you. I think its because you show us the battles and talk about it. And not just talk and talk about the battles like they do in school. Witch are boring to listen to because of the lack of interest or action in what the teacher talks about.

Baibars' life could make a good movie. Defeated the same army who enslaved him as a child.

Baibars and Qotoz were both enslaved and sold by the Mongols , Qutoz was the son of Sultan Jalal Edin Al khawarizmi , the reason that his Mongol owner sold is that he was scared that Qutoz would one day kill him .

big lac I don’t think he wanted to directly to become Sultan, rather their was an opportunity and he took it. Most sources state it was revenge because Qutuz refused to give Baibars Aleppo to govern (As also mentioned in the video)

It would be, I’ve been watching Ertugrul and although it isn’t the most historically accurate still a great watch and shows the imaan off past muslims

Amazing turn of events after this defeat: Berkhe Khan (one of Gengis Khan's grandsons) converted to Islam, said sorry Muslims for what Hulegu did, and fought Hulegu in a series of battles till Hulegu eventually died, putting a halt to Hulegu's expansions and preventing another catastrophe like what happened in Baghdad. Berkhe's nephew, Mengu-Timur, became Khan of the Golden Horde, and sent a delegation to Baibars offering to jointly attack territories still under the control of Hulegu's son. Mengu-Timur's brother, Töde Möngke, converted to Islam, and succeeded him as the khan of the Golden horde after he died.

This is one of the great miracles of history. Imagine if Hulagu had gotten to Jerusalem? Or Giza? Imagine the history we could have lost. Thank god he was stopped.

Things you don’t expect to see in a battle video: 23:30 “He was famous for building a cat garden in Cairo providing shelter and food to all of the city’s cats.”

This video was made really well. I knew the Mongols were screwed when I looked at the terrain. Never realized how close the Mongols got to winning and that it was only a leftover garrison and not the main force. Pretty crazy to think the death of the khan at Diaoyu (southern china, near chongqing) prevented the conquest of Egypt.

ابن احمد العسقلاني Child? Your use of backyard psychology is infantile. You have no idea who I am and what I know. So you think you know about the God and I don't, eh? Listen, just read The Muhammad Code by Howard Bloom and then we talk. Oh, and by the way, I'm a direct descendant of Afonso de Albuquerque, you know who he was, right? Bye, sandy.

ابن احمد العسقلاني so, America defeats Moslems with the help of Allah? Hmmm, interesting!

Another factor is that if Hulagu were to attack the Mamluks, he would then have to face Berke of the Golden Horde as he as too a muslim and as very pissed off of Baghdad's demise.

Interesting fact: Qutuz , Baibars and Kitbuga were of Turkic origins Qutus ,Baibars: Kipchak or Cuman (Turkic) Kitbuga: Naiman (Possibly Turkic)

BTW Cairo in Arabic is Al-Qahira which come from the verb قهر (Qahr) which means Defeat or Conquer So Cairo's literal meaning is the conqueror or The one who defeated the enemies.
